The clickbait aggregator at Harvard who claims that there is a chance that it is an alien probe/ship argues that it could be a ship sent to inspect the source of radio signals emanating from the earth. The earliest radio signals that fit the bill were sent in the 1930s or so. So almost 100 light years. The signals would have had to travel to the home of such a probe/ship and then they would have had to send the probe/ship here, arriving soon. If the probe/ship's speed reached 10% of the speed of light, without accounting for acceleration and deceleration time, then the furthest its home could be is less than 10 light years away. There are only 8 star systems within that distance of our solar system and it seems pretty improbable that there would be intelligent, spacefaring life within such a small gouping - and whose em radiation we have never detected..

In that case someone wouldn't be a proctologist they'd be an astronaut.

Yeah.
Or it’s just a big rock or comet that’s been floating through space for a billion years….because that’s a thing in space.

I say we start launching nukes at it now. We have 2 months to bomb their arse until they get here.
It’s the only way to be sure.
