Why does the same media downplay the promising results being seen using Hydroxychloroquine to treat the Wuhan virus, dismissing it as anecdotal, also report on anecdotal deaths such as this?

Seems like she has a lot of responsibility for NOT taking the Covid 19 test sooner.
10th - passed ion taking the test - only 5 left at her work place
11th - declined test - same as above
13th - didn’t feel like she needed the test
15th - I may get the test at work tomorrow
16th - tested
19th - RIP

Can’t blame it on slow test results.

Sucks for her loved ones, but their social media and the post is questionable from the standpoint of taking advantage of modern medicine. There is talk of "Medicinal whiskey" of "herbs" and shite.

Maybe tylenol and albuterol would have been you know, helpful? Maybe some abx for secondary pneumonia.

Work at crescent care likely exposed her to a myriad of new orleans bugs also. Not to be taken lightly when you are already fairly sick.

She likely had an underlying medical condition that isn't being reported or even she didn't know about.

Does that make her losing her life because of this pandemic acceptable?

i do think Nola is going to have an outlier-like death rate though b/c of the underlying demographic issues (rates of HIV/AIDS, diabetes, smoking, etc.)

New Orleans has some of the unhealthiest 35-60 year olds in the country. Death rate will be higher than average.

Being a healthcare worker I would have thought they would assume illness and nothing different would have happened unless they assumed wrong and she had something that needed immediate and specific treatment. Passing on test was her call, but outside of testing positive for anything else by March 10th they would have started to assume it was corona & definitely anytime before she went ahead & got tested Monday the 16th along with the time after tested until she passed away Friday the 20th.

These waiting on test result stories are pushing bad narrative unless she didn’t listen to advice they give others and exposed other people in meantime.

It’s also weird that an article written today would include “new strain of coronavirus“ instead of just using official name or other commonly used & specific names. Reporter is going to have people asking if this has mutated in Louisiana and do they need to be tested again. I know Wuhan is a new strain of a coronavirus and it mutated in China, but to use that today will confuse some.

They would have put her on the right medication immediately had she taken the test when offered and she would be alive today. That’s what could have been done. Doctors are now automatically assuming you have it and putting you on a medication to stem the progression of the virus

Is there a specific right medicine? There can be medicines that make it worse, but at least from article I have not read yet that she was taking anything like this.

She was in medical field in New Orleans, sick for a week, tested Monday, feeling something in lungs on Thursday, but she still decides to go out in public and walk dog with her partner.

If she has corona asking who she exposed since at least Monday if not before would be a better story.

Oh... I dunno... maybe because Dr. Fauci is also downplaying it and he's sort of the man in charge of managing the epidemic for this country?

because of lack of data, but we have no real scientific data on any front in this thing
