Tragedy.
Mike Rowe cleaned a manure pit on his show.
This happens frequently it seems.

The only thing that would make this more shitty is if it happened in Alabama.

Someone should have been designated as a lookout or something.

When working for a welder, I had to stick my arm down into a concrete drain to clean old fence pieces out, and had hog sh*t from my elbow down. I don't know if that stuff drained into one of those pits. I never saw a pit. Like I said, I was working for a welder who put up new fencing. I had to cut the old fence down, grind the post clean, and help my boss with the welds.
I can't imagine getting around that much of it, especially after it sat for very long. Everything I touched was fresh enough that hogs were still trying to eat it.

Brother-in-law was a dairy farmer and had a manure pit near his barn. His two farm hands, both Straight Outta Bedico, bet that one wouldn’t jump in the pit for $20. The Less than bright one of the two, agreed to terms and was about to bail in when my BIL walked up and said “If you are stupid enough to do that, then you will have to tie a rope around you to pull you out if needed.” Rope goes on and he jumps in, cow crap isn’t water and he can’t get back up to surface. After 8-10 seconds or so, they pull him out and basically saved his $20 life. Ol’ Baw had manure in every crack and crevice imaginable and had panicked and yelled and came out with a mouthful.
Life Lesson: shite ain’t nothin’ to frick with.

Getting out of Ohio can be tough for some.

All jokes aside, I feel so fricking terrible for their parents, thinking they were handing over the family farm to their kids, only for them to all die at the same time when you're to old to have anymore.

The last job I worked on for my dad (GC,) we were adding on to a city sewer system in Many, which included changing all of the fittings in the bottoms of all existing lift stations. We’d pump them out as much as we could but due to the depth the pumps could not get it all out and would leave a couple of feet of raw sewerage in the tanks, and had to be bailed out with a five gallon bucket with a rope attached to it. Now, I’m the boss here but none of the laborers would go down into the tank, so guess who got to do that? I had rubber boots on that came up to just below the knee, sewer depth was just above the knee before bailing. All I could think of as each as each bucket was being pulled up, looking up at 3-4 black faces and that shite sloshing down on me was “pilot training date, hurry your arse up!”

Damn. That's really messed up. Rest in peace.
I worked on a chicken farm where the cages were stacked three high. 50 yard long rows. Numerous rows. They had a s*** pit below just as long.
When removing the chickens for transport or whatever reason, some would escape and fall into the pit. There was nothing you could do for them. They would just slowly sink into the abyss.
