Choice #1 London, and see how far it would get me towards seeing castles in the UK. Probably not very far, so I’d pay out of pocket to see Scotland & Ireland.

Choice #2 African safari. Again, no idea how far that will get me, but if I can’t shoot a wildebeest or a giraffe or some shite, I’d be pissed.

Costa Rica. But things have increased there since that awful C word and they have instituted a vat tax. I’ve bee reading where folks are surprised how $$ it is there and my boss just went this summer and said same, at least re restaurant-wise. I went 6 years ago and it was amazing.

I’m not wasting that money for 3-4 days. You’ll spend half your time traveling on first and last day. I’m saving more and making it 6-7 days

$2,500, 3-4 days, solo... probably something out west where I can get out in nature and hike. Grand Canyon, Zion, etc.

Since you say I don't need to have the wife and kids, I'd do what I'm planning to do next summer when I retire: jump into my overlanding vehicle and bike and paddle my way across the West. With dispersed camping, $2,500 would last me at least a month. Come on June.

thats silly talk. you can easily make a 3-4 day trip work with flights of 4-5 hours. some places I dont want to stay more than 3-4 days, vegas being a prime example.

If you do go on an African Safari, make sure you get a good guide. Years ago a dentist went on one and shot a lion. It was only afterward that he found out the locals loved this lion and he even had a name (Cecil) for him.

I think shooting Cecil may have ruined his career. Make sure none of the animals you shoot have human names. Other than that, have fun and enjoy yourself.

From Birmingham, I'm probably going to Chattanooga if I had to spend the funds.

Weak budget for skiing. Flight, lift tickets, and rentals for 5 days would eat most of that. Decent condo and on mountain dining and that budget is burst.
