I'm 20, self-taught, ex-@Palantir, a researcher, scientist, builder, and pilot (longest flight was Florida to India and I also got intercepted by F-18s over the Strait of Hormuz because I flew too close to the USS Abraham Lincoln ) .
Currently not in college because this year I'm preparing for my biggest mission yet: a solo flight around all seven continents, including a ~20-hour nonstop flight across Antarctica in a small propeller aircraft as part of an independent science expedition with @nasa.
Outside of flying, I publish research papers for fun, work on scientific projects, and build technology in AI and infrastructure.
Decided to get a bit more active on X because it seems to be where all the like-minded people are hanging out. Super excited!

Throwback to the time I got intercepted by F-18s over the Strait of Hormuz near Iran.
Back in Feb I was ferrying a PA-28, a propeller aircraft which cruises at 87kts (150hp) from Vero Beach, Florida to India. Atlantic, Greenland, Scotland, Belgium, then down through Egypt toward the Middle East. Four continents, three weeks. The problem I hadn't anticipated for, was a potential war outbreak during the middle of the flight.
So while I am flying around, following my route... somewhere over Saudi Arabia I get my first weird encounter, picking up a shadow that was following me. I realized later on FlightRadar that it was a literal US surveillance drone, at 30,000ft above me, tracking me half way (so, whoever was behind the screen of the drone, I was the pilot you were watching, sorry!)
Landed in Muscat, Oman. Apron packed with diverted Emirates planes that should've been empty. Checked the news: I’d just flown through the opening hours of a war.
That night, hotel room, 3am decision: stay and risk being grounded indefinitely in a conflict zone, or fly now while the window was still open. I went. So obviously, I take the most logical decision: 4am, wheels up. Let's escape the warzone to start a 9 hours nonstop across the Indian Ocean. No autopilot the whole way. Two hours after I left with my copilot, Oman was hit by missile strikes.
And then, about a third of the way across, when I started to relax a little, two F-18 Hornets showed up off my right wing. I had unintentionally drifted near a USS Abraham Lincoln's exclusion zone (carrier ship) during active strike operations, during which I had lost comms for approx. 20 minutes. They circled me for 30 minutes and deviated me towards different directions before I got clearance to continue.
Finally, landed in Gujarat, India. Was a close call!

She needs to be on a plane that’s large enough to have an onboard galley.

In all seriousness, she needs to be careful. Flying for that long, even with a navigator, is no joke and it's the middle of winter there. Hopefully we don't have another Amelia on our hands like others ITT have mentioned.
