They literally just came out. You don't know shite about car prices, just take your L

ETA: You made a thread about the cost of the Escape going up a little over $1000 from last year after a major redesign.

It's gotten ridiculous. How much higher can they go?

As high as they want as long as idiots are still financing 40k at 12% for 72 months

I say that as someone who would love to find the perfect American or Japanese SUV that is practical and stout and boring with a luxury interior. But it doesn't exist.

The Q5 STARTS at about 2k more. If you want one with all the same features as the Escape, you're going to be in the 50s.

What?

I'm guessing a Q5 Premium is a middle/well-equipped Escape right off the bat

I’ll never forget that thread when that guy was bragging about buying a platinum Ford Explorer for 52 grand

Features such as all the lane keep assist and those "smart" safety features don't come on the base Q5 like they would come on the fully loaded escape.

A similarly equipped Q5 is going to be 5 figures more than this escape.

Can't speak for all, but this wasn't the case when I compared a mid 90s Z71 to its equally equipped modern counterpart.

Wow I thought this was the OT, everyone in here complaining about buying a $40k car.

Back in the day $40k was a daily commuter car here.

I know vehicles are getting more expensive (beyond the rate of inflation), but $40k for a Ford Escape? That's steep.

I work for one of the German luxury brands and yes, everyone is well aware that the price tag of every vehicle we produce has risen much, much quicker than inflation. Every single model. Take the L, buddy.

I had one as a rental a few months ago up in the Smokey Mountains. After about an hour of very moderate driving, the transmission started to overheat and you could smell it burning. I had to stop to allow it to cool off.

I was not impressed.

To be fair, it actually was made of platinum, per the salesman.
