There are about 5 officers left in NOPD and four of them don’t leave headquarters. That’s why you didn’t see anyone.

Don’t disagree. Short trip, hadn’t hung out in the quarter in several, several years and had a few people to see that own businesses there.

Can you tell me why? That's my question.

When I used to hunt ducks sometimes some would make it through the decoys.

You lucked out.

Knew a college kid who was coming out of the Super-Dome after a football game and he had a shaker on a stick.

As he walked past a police horse he stuck that stick up the horses butt.

He was drug off by four large policemen and not seen for two weeks.

He lived and has never gone back to LA.

My brother in law was a NOPD Lieutenant based out of the French Qtr. for several years. He told me that they were often easy on the out of towners arrested for minor charges but it wasn't a pleasant experience for any hood rats that were committing robberies or violent crimes.

You are responsible for yourself. When seconds count, police are just minutes away

Imagine wanting to vacation somewhere and being forced to stay in a small radius because crime is rampant.

Do you really need the government to pay a guy with a gun to watch you drink at a bar?

The lack of police is a huge problem. The DAs office is an even bigger problem

Congrats on the survival. 2 million or more people will visit Nola in the next three months. I hope at least half of them make it out Ok and can report back to the OT.

why is the Consent Degree such a drain on the force? I hear that get mentioned a lot.

It’s not, it’s how Landrieu decided he wouldn’t fight any of it and then take what the feds recommended and add more. Then after he signed off on it didn’t realize the feds weren’t going to pay for it.

The killer is the added cost from the budget. You can’t hire people, equipment gets old, etc.

Everyone blames Latoya, and while she is a POS, NOPD’s woes are because of ol’Mitch.

As much as I hate LaToya, you can blame Mitch’s policies for the downfall of the NOPD. While you can blame LaToya for not fixing it when she took over, make no mistake that this was his doing.
I took this pic of the interim police chief “walking the route” before a parade down Magazine. She’s surrounded by no less than 8 officers, being trailed by at least 6 SUVs with 2 police in each. I’d bet $$ that that this is as close to street work that they’ve seen in their careers.

Nashville but with flooding? Austin, but with real music?

NOLA is lazy, fat, entitled, and crime ridden. At least most people in BTR know they have a problem. NOLA has so many transplants they just sort of shrug, "they robbed the car on the next block, not mine, what's the problem?"

Was there several years ago and was told by an officer I could carry while in the quarter and encouraged me to do so.
I’ve read of several arrests because the cops can see the handgun in your pocket. So can you carry without being arrested or is that history now?

I DIDN’T SEE ONE SINGLE POLICE OFFICER ANYWHERE IN THE QUARTER.

A few years ago a cop quit in the middle of his shift. Went public with the many reasons why. One reason: at times he was the only patrol officer in the district. He was literally alone out there.
Think about that. He did. And quit.

Doesn’t get nearly enough blame for the current state of the city.

There’s no Teedy without him and the shite foundation he laid.
