Dick nose fords (97-03) may be the single worst downgrade in vehicle model in history.

Went from this

to this.....

Makes me miss our 2002 FX-4 even more. Bought used. Was pretty reliable until some electronic gremlin made it quit recognizing keys at random times. Neither Ford or independent shop could sort it out so have owned a 2013 since 2017.

I had an 03 F150 that had the 5.4. I got it up to 250k and gave it to my nephew. He got it to 300k before he replaced the motor. It was still going but the rear main seal started leaking. It was a reliable truck. Slow as a turd though.

I also moved up to a 13 F150 in 2017. I got the 5.0. Still got it. Up to 176k

I had one with the 4.2L
I had to have the front cover gasket replaced twice in two years.

Needless to say I sold it.

Don't do that...

Trust me.

You end with a bunch of cars and battery tenders all over the damn place.

Rear brake drums required frequent adjustment (they went to 4 wheel discs in 1999)

My 2000 F-150 still had drums. Was my first new car after I graduated high school. I found my spring tool in my tool box the other day that i still have for some reason “because you never know.”

Single cab. Manual windows. Vinyl floors. Standard transmission. Bench seat with the fold down console so future Mrs Prez could snuggle up next to me. Had cruise control which was nice. Put one of them fancy Alpine radios in it.

Good memories OT.

That rounded design wasn't my favorite. To me the previous generation looked better -1996

Yes they had a dogshit underpowered non turbo 7.3. That’s why I said I’d take one with a 6.7 Powerstroke in it.

I owned the XL version of that truck.

Hand rolled down windows. Still standard shift.

Too bad it conked out on me at 110k miles.

Sold it for $500 with a bad motor. I still see it on the road once a year. It has a distinctive mark on the tailgate where I ran into something (don't know what).

Compared to our 2013, the 2002 with the rounded nose had much better visibility and maneuverability. Trucks keep growing these days...

That’s not a 1997 it’s a 1997.5 the 1979-1997 fords were all good looking trucks, the power stroke is a good looking truck but engine and transmission suck that are not 7.3l with 5spd manual

Had the same with a 5 speed. Fuel mileage did suck but it was surprisingly fast for a sixer.
