To be fair people were much more morally courageous back then, misguided in some ways sure but much more courageous.

Because those "perks and amenities" have ruined a large segment of this country.

You didn't have the PC bs either.

People still valued the things that are important and not which version of iPhone they had.

There was still wonder and mystery about places, things, and people because you couldn't pull up anything you wanted on the Internet in 5 seconds.

Our country wasn't eating and lazying itself to death driving up healthcare cost through the roof for the rest of Americans.

We didn't have millions of illegal immigrants and Welfare culture bringing down our schools, communities, and economy economy.

I would miss a lot of things about today but there are definitely a lot of arguments to be made for going back to "the good ole days".

The thing about de jure segregation that was evil- really evil- was the fact that blacks who were capable of bettering themselves and achieving great success were not allowed to do so. That was awful, and I am very thankful we don't live under that system anymore. The problem with the situation we have today is that we have a very large population of people who (for reasons 100% tied to a brutal history of slavery and oppression btw) are really in need of a lot of help to make it in modern society. HOWEVER, acknowledging this fact is racist- the worst possible thing a person can be in late republic America- and the very REAL problems that exist in the black community get ignored or explained away without anyone being able to say, "wait a minute, this problem goes back to mistakes that were make in 1964" without being labelled racist bigot.

absolutely. However, our current system of social welfare and the war on drugs has trapped many poor blacks into poverty today.
