I mean he arrived less than 10 seconds before? He doesn’t get to think “well if they only have knives I should probably use my stun gun”. He pulled out his weapon after trying to talk the situation down. At that point someone was in mid swing with at least a 5” blade aiming at the center of someone else.
It’s a hard situation every time but police officers have to do the best they can with available info

Keep in mind, when the cop first arrives the two girls are coming towards him. I presume he saw the knife at this point and appropriately drew his firearm. I mean, you aren’t going to attempt to use your taser on a knife wielding perp who is a few feet from you. At this point the girl lunges at girl in pink and the cop has to make a split second decision- let her stab and potentially murder the girl or - what - re-holster his firearm and remove his taser? Girl in pink is stabbed at this point. Monday morning QB all you like but in just a few seconds the cop’s options were incredibly limited if the goal is to serve and protect.

Lastly, why are tasers not used more? Lot's of recent incidents I feel could be solved with a taser rather than a gun? (ignorance for lack of knowledge..)

Watch when that happened. When the girl got up to head towards the girl in pink, she handed something to Pele. It was quick, but I noticed it when they were doing the press conference in slow mo.

He showed up and immediately the girl tried to stab someone who fell on the ground.
The girl then went to stab the girl in pink and he shot.
It all happened in seconds.
And for those saying he shouldve used a TASER. TASERs don't always work and are not recommended in close quarters situations where someone's life (the girl in pink) is imminently being threatened.
If he had tried to use the TASER and it didn't work and she killed the girl in pink, then the pink girl's family would be calling for the cop's head for not doing enough to stop ole stabby.
It's a no-win situation for the police. That's why I don't understand why anyone would want to be a cop these days.

I don't really care for cops but isn't this the definition of when a cop should shoot someone? He was preventing someone from potentially getting killed by an armed assailant. I hate that someone that young died but I don't see the issue here. Or I am missing something.
