And not enjoyable because in the time that I have gone, I was scoping out an exit in the event of an emergency, finding a seat that allow me to have my back against the wall, or watching who I need to watch for if I thought they looked sketchy.

Like you, I haven’t been to a movie theater in years. But I’ve noticed myself doing this in restaurants which we’ve also backed off on. We used to go out for dinner with friends once a week. Now it’s once every month or two. Uber is sketchy as hell now and I no longer care to spend a few hundred dollars on a meal sitting next to someone dressed like a gangster.
Unfortunately, a lot of our entertainment is happening at home with family and friends.

It’s a screening of a rap concert.

The same thing happened in Shreveport. 2 showings were shut down by the cops.

My #1 issue at a movie theater these days is the bright phone screens distracting from my total immersion into the movie.

I agree but with the new luxury recliners, don’t believe I’ve noticed anyone on their phones, not that they weren’t using them but I don’t see them..

Looked like they were watching a hip hop concert.

I don’t see much issue with what they’re doing if that’s the case. There are no normal white people in the crowd, so what’s the problem?

I paid a pretty penny for my wife to sit in the best seats for Wicked in NYC. Guy next to her was singing along with it. WTF!?
“Wicked” and “Hamilton” are the only two music theater shows I’ve seen in the past two decades-plus. And I was horn-swaggled into going to those.

I slept through at least 1/3rd of “Wicked”. Sorry I wasn’t there for y’all in your time of need.

Music theater to heterosexual me is gay baseball. Pass.

I go to the single screen Prytania some, not much issue there.

I'm curious if any of these are the same people who, after paying $15 per ticket and throwing cash around in a theater, are the same ones complaining that EBT doesn't buy candy and their children will starve as a result.

Perkins Rowe/AMC should have thought twice about showing this movie.

This is the theater we go to because all the other ones are ghetto as frick except the Celebrity Theaters across town.

We decided against going to see the new Mario movie with the kids until this movie is done playing.

This is the result of generations of the government paying hood rats to have 10 kids each.

It's not going to improve.

I grew up in the western suburbs of St. Louis in the 1970's. It is still a very self segregated metro area. I went to public school and didn't have any black kids in my classes. None on my school sports teams. I had no interaction with the community outside of The Jeffersons or Good Times on TV.

My first time in a movie theater with them was to see The Ring, I think I was at the old Meyerland Theater after moving to Houston. I did not know that for blacks, watching a movie was a participatory event. It is meant to be enjoyed by yelling at the screen, screaming at people at the end of the row, standing up during the movie, general talking and laughing. (and this was before everyone had cell phones) I legit was not aware that this was a thing, or I would have turned around and demanded my money back the second I saw the audience.

I'm sort of a ashamed to admit, but I always check Yelp pictures of a restaurant's interior before going to eat. I think it has saved me many bad experiences.

Rule number one of the movies

Don’t go see a black movie ( Madea/black panther/Michael Jackson movie ) on opening weekend at night

You’re setting yourself up for disappointment

Gotta go on Sunday afternoon or another non peak time

Completely obnoxious and unacceptable. I’d leave this theater immediately and complain to staff to control these animals
