Fascinating Behavior
Some people just don't know how to act in public. They treat a movie theater like it’s their own living room or a rowdy party, forgetting that everyone else there paid to enjoy the show too. Shared spaces only work when people show a little restraint.
The theater staff likely didn't step in because they didn't want to start a massive argument. And calling this behavior "cultural" or "passionate" is just an excuse. You can love a 'movie' without acting wild and ruining it for the strangers sitting next to you.
Thinking that rules don't apply just because you're excited is selfish. Simply no self-control or respect for others. Society depends on a simple, unwritten rule: don't make your fun someone else's headache.
But hey, at least no one was shot.

My #1 issue at a movie theater these days is the bright phone screens distracting from my total immersion into the movie.
My 65" at home is good enough for me.

Same. I haven't been to a movie in well over 5 years, and maybe once or twice in the last 10 to 12 years.
I don't miss it. Far too expensive. And not enjoyable because in the time that I have gone, I was scoping out an exit in the event of an emergency, finding a seat that allow me to have my back against the wall, or watching who I need to watch for if I thought they looked sketchy.

I paid a pretty penny for my wife to sit in the best seats for Wicked in NYC. Guy next to her was singing along with it. WTF!?
And he was white. I don’t care what your color is. STFU!

The under belly of Baton Rouge that every cop sees daily. This is the culture that we are up against.
It’s a beautiful war on law and order.

Can anyone figure out what’s actually on the screen? Not that it justifies the absurd behavior, but about ten or so seconds in, you get a glimpse of the screen, and it almost looks like a concert or music video? I’m wondering if this was an actual movie or whether it was a “rent out the theater for an event” type of thing.

A good friend of mine has a funny story of her mom informing the woman next to her at a Sarah McClochlan concert that she did not, in fact, pay to hear her sing In the Arms of an Angel

I went to the 12pm matinee. We were quietly humming along to the fantastic NBA Youngboy beats. What a performer!

Its Nbayoung boy documentary. You’d have to pay me to attend.

based on the post, just to clarify a bit, I think that was not a normal movie and was a rap concert being shown
American Youngboy

"American Youngboy" documents the dynamic artistry, compelling stage presence, and widespread acclaim of superstar rapper NBA Youngboy’s highly successful MASA TOUR. Captured across 42 completely sold-out arena performances, the film highlights the tour's production elements, Youngboy's command of the stage, and the vibrant energy of his audiences, offering an immersive experience for fans unable to attend. Interwoven throughout are more personal moments from the artist's life between shows, including backstage interactions, rehearsal sessions, and glimpses into his home and family life.

Black movie theatre, bring your spray butter and hot sauce. Awesome way to watch a horror movie. Audience participation adds to the movie.
White movie theatre, screaming kids and cell phones. No thanks.

Yeah somehow I doubt this is in the wheelhouse of the board's demos

What kind of theater are you going to? You can’t see the people below you from that angle in the AMC recliners

Blue Bayou, Mall of Louisiana and now Movie theaters all can be marked off places I’ll never go back to in Baton Rouge and the list keeps growing…

I guess a crappy one, lol... my theater installed the recliners right at the beginning of covid, but you can still see bright phone screens when it's dark.
Maybe I'm just easily distracted.
