Had a friend in high school who made a 36. He went to Annapolis and was killed in an accident on an aircraft carrier.
I made a 29 and was not taking it seriously because I was looking at all the fine women taking the test at the time.

LA state average is around 20/21.

Maybe college just isn’t for him.

It’s an easier test now.

My brother is a patent attorney that runs a successful tutoring business in northern Virginia on the side. He took the ACT, SAT and then while in undergrad he took the MCAT and LSAT.

About once a year he will take the ACT and SAT just to stay current on the tests for his students. He always gets a 1590-1600 and a 36.

He claims it has gotten easier but he's smart as shite and basically got a perfect LSAT before going to UVA Law (he went to med school prior).

At one point in time, there were several High Schools in the NOLA area where the valedictorian scored a 12-15 on the ACT. Then they would cry racism if they weren't offered a scholarship for being at the top of their class.

Yes, I witnessed this first hand for years.

Pipe fitter it is

edit: in all seriousness that is beyond terrible. Dumb high school athletes that barely got into college to play at least made a 19 which is still terrible. I got a 23 as a sophomore and a 28 as a senior. Although now may be the time to do poorly as a lot of schools are dropping the standardized testing requirements.

What is the Louisiana average?

I think it used to be 19 when I was in high school.
----LSU used to have a floor of 18 for admission. A long time ago.

I knew a guy that got a 16 and still ended up graduating from Tulane.

ETA: His brother is the smartest human I know personally.

Went college with a guy that made a 11, there were open admissions at most state schools in those days. He graduated with a business degree. But it was the 70s and I never heard of a single person making over 30, and the average was probably 20, so a 11 then doesn’t mean the same as a 11 today.

My youngest son has taken it a few times with a wide range in scores (all of them suck). First week or two after his sophomore year he got an 18. Took it after working late at the beginning of his junior year and made a 13 which I could not fathom how he could score that low. He got a 21 last time but has come to the realization that college is not going to be for him. The grade inflation in public schools is a joke as he entered his junior year ranked 35th in his class of over 600 with a GPA above 4.0. A's are handed out for simply showing up these days. He has an A in AP English yet only scored a 15 on the reading comprehension section last time. That should not be possible.

Pretty sure I got a 24 first time taking it, and was like 'frick it, it'll get me into LSU." Didn't feel any need to take it again and score higher

I thought you get a 12 on the ACT for just putting your name on the test.

I grew up with a guy who got a 12. He was the #2 cfb prospect in the country his senior year. Went to a major D1 program (not sec), was at one point their all-time statistical leader at qb, and started in at least one BCSNC game.

They've revised the test in the past few years. Supposedly if you took it in the 90s you can add about 4 pts to score for the current equivalent. But still, dude was a sack of rocks, but he had a cannon for an arm and was damn accurate.

I am unfortunately one of those people too. Scored a 32 and was the second highest in my class (damn vietnamese dude made a perfect 36), now I make about 80k working for the government

Those scores really don't mean shite when it comes to future prospects

We had a fellow that lived in our dorm (South Stadium) in the mid-80's who had scored an 8 on the ACT. In order to even score the 8, he had to have someone read the questions to him. He graduated high school at the age of 21 and was completely illiterate. Apparently, the high school never considered to award him a "Certificate of Attendance" in lieu of a diploma.

Even worse is the fact that LSU was an "open admissions" university for the fall semester of 1986 and pretty much anyone with a Louisiana high School diploma would be accepted for enrollment. Needless to say, we had a HUGE freshman class that year, many of whom had absolutely no business setting foot on a university campus apart from attending a ball game. Remedial reading courses (ENGL0091) ought not EVER be taught at a university. Surely you are expected to have some ability to read if you are planning on attending college!

That's the lowest score on the ACT that I can claim to have seen.
