re: 12 on the ACT

When I was a Junior in high school, I got a 26. Stayed with that. Got an 18 in 7th grade taking it as part of that Duke thing.
Anyway: the Football Coach's daughter got a 12. Not a big surprise if you knew her. Sexy as all hell, on the dance team, but dumber than the two Down syndrome kids at the school.
I was a favorite target of his on the football team because of my stubborn attitude towards authority(you can tell), and got in trouble one day. Instead of the usual laps or litter detail, he made me tutor his fine-arse daughter for the ACT.
It was my favorite punishment of all time. Ended up with a lot of perks.
Anyway, I tutored her, and she took it again. She ran up to me after getting the results all smiles saying "I did better this time!"
"Really? What did you get?"
"A 14!"
My response: "It's a good thing you are hot as hell. You can get you a good supporter."
She is now an Elementary school teacher in one of the "best" school districts in the state.
I have some theories on why we keep falling behind the rest of the world in education.

Got a 30 a long time ago. I wonder if I’d do better or worse now
How long ago?
Because these days, a 30 is damn near middle of the pack.
I swear, the test has gotten easier since the late 90's.
When I took it in 98, five people in my class of over 400 scored better than my 26. Three of them got a 30 or higher. (I got a 26 because I scored a 14 in the math portion. Didn't even attempt to try on that section after the first two questions. Just CeeGee'd it. Too early in the morning after too late a Friday night.)
I went to a damn good school too.
I went to sign up to take it again my senior year, and the Guidance Counselor talked me out of it. He literally asked me "Why would you want to take it again? You can get into any in-state school, and any public SEC school. And you have the grades to take a shot at a Private."
Thought he made a great point as I was only considering going to LSU.

I remember a guy in my HS class getting a 3.
Still lives with his parents. Class of 86.

29 on the 1st try was good enough for me.

A score that low makes me think they had a test anxiety melt down.

Ha! Average score at my Louisiana Public High School is 15. Had four kids make a 9! Welcome to the new generation....Yes, this is what passing them regardless of what grades they make does to a society. Future looks bright

I truly though the lowest score one could make on it was a 14

First of all let me tell the good. I made a perfect 36 on the Reading Comprehension. I also made Avery respectable 27 on both English and Science. Then the bad. I made a freaking 8 on the Math. Yes, an 8. I mean, I love numbers and stats, but I pulled off an 8. Took it again and made higher in Math when I pulled off a 12, but everything else dropped 2-3 points, so it helped none.

I once worked with a young man who made an 11.

36.
Which is also how many times I can bench 225.

This was pre tops..I took it once as a sophomore, made an 18 and never took it again. I hate standardized testing, was never good at it and just avoided it at all costs.
Went to college, eventual deans list at LSU, graduated, took an entry level job, gained experience, worked my arse off and am now in a position where any new hire an MBA is required.

I fricking love all the grown men under anonymous usernames on here bragging about a score they got on a test in high school and lieing about it at that.
That's brutal. One girl in my HS did all of the Tops classes, she took the ACT 5 time and could never get the qualifying tops score. I think it was like a 17 of 19?
I felt terrible for her, she worked her arse off but some people just don't have it. Now I own my own business and bust my arse building houses all day, she got implants and an only fans and probably makes more in a month than I do in a year
