Both the gas station and walmart by my house were closed last night when I went by around 8 last night. Neither lost power or even came close to flooding.
I can't speak for the chicken little businesses being closed by 8 for a 10 curfew. That's just dumb on their part, not the sheriff.
Since apparently those working jobs (hospitals, plants, etc.) are immune from the curfew, basically the only businesses being affected are food service, bars, and gas stations.
There is nothing essential at any of those places that can't be missed for 1 more night.
Gas Pumps are 24/7 (for those essential workers) and food places are open from 6 am to 10 pm (albeit with limited menus this week).

Does anyone have the cite to the statutory or constitutional basis for anyone declaring a curfew?

I'd imagine a store like Wal-Mart takes a good while to close and then you have to allow enough time for your employees to make it home in time for the curfew.

Is there any guarantee that the curfew is ending tonight?
And as I said earlier, we've got people in our office who are working their 8-5 job and then going to work on their damaged home. A 10pm curfew is limiting their ability to move around the city, purchase goods for the cleanup, etc.

Very few stations keep their pumps on overnight.

This is an unabashed attempt by EBRSO to enact a preposterous authority they simply do not have by duping the jackboot-licking simps that make up most of the law-abiding/productive portion of the Baton Rouge populace
That's fricking poetic ranting right there. 3/10

Hopefully you wouldn't have any problems with that if you're not stopping.

Lets go over this again.
American Airlines and others have reduced flights in and out of BR because of the curfew. Casinos including L'aburge have changed hours. Grocery stores are closing earlier than 10 to get customers out, stocks counted, whatever else they do. Fast food restaurants and neighborhood restaurants. All service industry. Gas stations. Donut shops trying to go in at 3-4 in the morning. Taxi and uber drivers. Retail stores. Delivery drivers. Anyone doing shift work

This is how govts take away rights. Look at pirates reaction
"Who does it really harm?
"How many businesses are truly affected?"
The fact is, it doesnt matter if it is only harming .0000000000001% of businesses. It is bullshite

No you don't. The curfew allows for people traveling to and from work or pretty much traveling with any purpose. It doesn not allow for Jamal to be creeping through some subdivision miles from his home where he has no business being

Again, a curfew does not mean a person can not be out. No cop is going to arrest someone that is going to get cleaning supplies or food.

It isn't a right to be able to travel the roads from 10 pm - 6 am, clown.
There are plenty of instances of government overreach....this is not one of them.
No one is permanently enacting a curfew just because.
People like to think they're in control, but basically anytime the government wants, they can do something like this within the frame of the law (or even outside it).
Government doesn't even need a natural disaster as an excuse

This funny thing happens when you work an $8/hr job. As it turns out, they really need that 8 bucks. Every shift they miss, could be the difference between keeping the lights on that month or living in the dark.
Before you start going around deciding what is essential for other people, you might want to take a step back and think about what the frick you're saying.

Tell that to all the businesses that are closing. frick I said it earlier that even American Airlines and others are reducing flight frequency with BR because of the curfew.
There is absolutely no reason someone shouldnt be able to go to a restaurant or bar to relax, get some, food/drink.

And for everyone saying that stores are losing business and closing at 8pm due to the curfew, Do you realize that maybe these store owners are having trouble staffing their places? If you own a business that generally runs 3 shifts ( morning, afternoon, and night)but have a shortage of employees, when would be the best time to close? After 8pm when business usually is the slowest?
