Also, why are some businesses exempt from the curfew (airport, plants, etc.) and others are not?
Because the "curfew" is not a lawful order, nor does it have any judicial weight. This is an unabashed attempt by EBRSO to enact a preposterous authority they simply do not have by duping the jackboot-licking simps that make up most of the law-abiding/productive portion of the Baton Rouge populace

Why not have a curfew for the area south of greenwell springs Rd, east of airline, and north of the southern parish boundary? Add in the communities in the north part of the parish and call it a day.

Are they essential type jobs?
Well not when airlines are cutting BR flights because of the curfew.

Proof?
Not quite sure how to give you proof of conversations I had.
But you can go to the Shell on coursey near Sherwood commons and talk to the lady behind the counter. Or just look at the plywood over the window next to the door.

The might as well just come out and say " Black people cant be trusted in poorly lit areas where people are vulnerable"

I'd fully support a class-action lawsuit being brought against EBRSO for imposing unnecessary economic hardship on BR residents and employees affected by their loss of wages and/or customers.
What regular businesses/restaurants are open past 10 on a weeknight? Bars are the only thing open on Thursday past 10, and I'm sure they'll more than make up for it this weekend.
They put a curfew tomm night at 10, then you may have a legit gripe.

There are dozens (maybe hundreds) of restaurants, grocery stores, and gas stations open after 10.

I'm not an attorney but I agree with you. How can the sheriff (an enforcement agent) unilaterally change the law and prevent citizens from leaving their home.

Do the Casinos stay open past the curfew

Casinos, airport, bars, restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, fast food restaurants, etc.

Forget about the patrons and think about all the people losing income not only from the flooding but now from the ridiculous curfew.
Hell the UREC regularly stays open till 11 while school is in.

I'm not denying that there aren't places in Baton Rouge open after 10. Just that this isn't some backbreaking economic impact on the patrons and workers.
What percentage of people in BR work after 10 on a Thursday night? Maybe 5% on the high side?

Last night, I tried to go to the gas station and the CVS by my house at 8:45 and both were closed due to the curfew. Businesses don't just turn off the lights and lock the door when they leave. They have to count the till and fill out closing paperwork, clean the place, and many have to make a nightly bank deposit. Restaurants and bars normally take longer than an hour to close up due to cleaning procedures.
What percentage of people in BR are looters?

To the night manager at a Bquick's family or the blackjack dealer at Lauberge? Yes. It's essential.

§329.6. Proclamation of state of emergency; conditions therefor; effect thereof (in pertinent part)
A. During times of great public crisis, disaster, rioting, catastrophe, or similar public emergency within the territorial limits of any municipality or parish, or in the event of reasonable apprehension of immediate danger thereof, and upon a finding that the public safety is imperiled thereby, the chief executive officer of any political subdivision or the district judge, district attorney, or the sheriff of any parish of this state, or the public safety director of a municipality, may request the governor to proclaim a state of emergency within any part or all of the territorial limits of such local government. Following such proclamation by the governor, and during the continuance of such state of emergency, the chief law enforcement officer of the political subdivision affected by the proclamation may, in order to protect life and property and to bring the emergency situation under control, promulgate orders affecting any part or all of the territorial limits of the municipality or parish:
(1) Establishing a curfew and prohibiting and/or controlling pedestrian and vehicular traffic, except essential emergency vehicles and personnel;
Quit spouting uninformed nonsense.

Plenty of places closed much earlier than they usually do in order to allow their employees to get home before the curfew. I tried to go pick up food at 8:45 last night and a few places closed at 8:30

Walmart, gas stations, and fast food business alone outnumbers the traffic all the bars combined get on any given weeknight.

More than that considering healthcare and petrochemical are 2 of the 3 largest employers in the region. And yes, I get that they are essential.
And I'd say given the round the clock work that's going on in some places. The opportunity for someone to make a grocery run after working on their home late into the night is important.
Keep in mind these retailers aren't closing at 10pm. They're closing between 8 and 9 so they can leave for 9:30-9:45 to abide by this stupid curfew.
