No it's not.

I've driven over 100k miles the past 4 years in my car. When you stop at a gas station at 3am and all the lights are off, they don't let you get gas.

They turn the pumps off.

Some places will have the pumps set to where you can swipe your card at the pump and get gas when the store is closed (at least here we have some).

But by no means does every gas station across the country leave their pumps on all night.

And if the pumps are set to pay At the pump when the store is closed, they typically have some lights on, even if the store lights (inside) are off.

I've driven from Mississippi to the coast in the dark and never passed a gas station that the pumps weren't on and accessible with a card

I've left rodeos at midnight and drove across state lines and stopped to get gas in the dark with only the light of the pump.

I live in a town with 3 gas stations and 2 truck stops. All pumps available all the time for card users
