Nothing is "wrong" with Metairie, but it's not often compared to a fast growing, wealthy city.

Spending 100 million on any sort of mall is a hilariously bad idea

St Charles parish has a Republican parish president and a majority republican council. Rispone was a shite candidate

I don't see the apartments really working out long term. Even if they are built upscale, I don't see the NOLA metro population gravitating towards an apartment complex. Apartment complexes in Metairie usually turn into shitholes.

REALLY tough to find good apartments in Metairie. That's why I think it might work, so long as they never take Section 8 or have some kind of "affordable housing". Problem is, even nicer complexes start off with affordable housing options for the first ~5 years so as to get grants (see: the very nice Hibernia Tower apartments). For middle to upper-middle folks to get a decent apartment in the area, they pretty much are stuck with the WHD or those complexes in Harahan near Citrus, so I can see a demand for this location if they can keep 1-bedrooms in the $1200/month range.

won’t speak for St. Charles but Jefferson and St Bernard demographics are changing and not for the better

Ain't too many times where "Metairie" and "The Woodlands" are in the same sentence with a positive comparison.

What is wrong with Metairie? This website is really ridiculous with certain broad brush stereotypes about areas.

Conversely, what's so great about The Woodlands? You'd have to be way too into youth hockey or some shite to tolerate that place.

Lots of people said that about the size off the medical center downtown....it is doing just fine.

A mall dependent on the consumer is not the same thing as a federally subsidized medical center. If that medical center relied on the free market it would have closed after a week.

They’d do better spending a lot less to find a replacement for Sears that would increase foot traffic.

Yeah, I don't like Democrats either but that doesn't mean the metro area is dying. There are many cities thriving despite the Democrats in government.

JP and St. Charles mostly have Republicans in office. Not sure about St. Bernard but it's probably true for da Parish as well. Orleans and St. John Parish were the only blue parishes in the area during the 2016 presidential election:

I go to lakeside about once a year. It’s amazing how busy that mall stays. It’s printing money every day.

Everyone keeps saying Target and Zea's like that's it at Clearview. (Only other metro area targets are Westbank and Kenner.)

The movie theater kept ticket prices and now has all those power recliner seats with food delivery to your seat that you reserved. Walk-On's has been there for a bit and seems to rarely have more than a table or two ever open. They have one of those virtual golf bars that seem to be popular. The only Bed, Bath, and Beyond on the eastbank.

Clearview once seemed dead, but the management has been slowly replacing the old tenants with better ones. The food court is a joke, but the restaurants make up for it.
