Is that from the recent governor election? JP, St. Charles, and St. Bernard are pretty red-solid parishes. Unfortunately, Rispone was a fricking nutjob and turned off a lot of Republican voters.

Looks kinda like what they did at the Woodlands. I hadn't been over there in over a decade and just went back in August....WOW!

Looks like they're trying ot give it a Perkins Rowe feel to it?

No, Perkins Rowe is actually kind of quaint. This, on the other hand, looks like a hospital

Only worth it if they bring back the Twin Peaks. It was a nice lunch stop coming back from Houston.

It's usually too early for lunch when I'm passing through BR and the one in Biloxi too late. Metairie Twin Peaks was just right.

Somehow though, Lakeside Mall has been thriving and expanding for the past 10 years at least.

Anyone involved with this project should be jailed or put in an asylum. You have to be insane or a thief to spend that kind of money on a mall.

It's basically going to be a Target, a few stores, restaurants, movie theater, apartments, and a hotel

Change out apartments & hotel for Bed Bath & Beyond, and that's basically what it is now.

Based on the pics, are they going to make it an outdoor shopping center?

Let them use their money. You sound like the typical New Orleanian/ Louisianian

It will never work and I will make it my life's mission to make sure it will never work

Lots of people said that about the size off the medical center downtown....it is doing just fine.

Ain't too many times where "Metairie" and "The Woodlands" are in the same sentence with a positive comparison.

JBE has spent A TON of time in Da Parish the last couple of years. Him and our parish president and a few of our council people (all conservative, mind you) have seem to hit on some kind of a working friendship. In the last two years, I've probably been to a dozen events where he was there.

What is wrong with Metairie? This website is really ridiculous with certain broad brush stereotypes about areas.

please explain. On what specific issues was Rispone so far right that he would be considered a nutjob? I agree he wasn't a great candidate but I really don't think nutjob is the right word to describe him.

Well, hopefully they find something that works better for the property. This country is becoming full of decaying malls.

I don't see the apartments really working out long term. Even if they are built upscale, I don't see the NOLA metro population gravitating towards an apartment complex. Apartment complexes in Metairie usually turn into shitholes.
