When Comus still street paraded on Fat Tuesday night, most of the floats were deserted and the few riders were stingy as heck. A letdown for us little kids not invited to the Ball.

Not a 610 stomper, the 610 refers to fraternity number, and The meeting of the Courts is when Rex leaves their ball to walk across the street to visit the ball of the Mistick Krewe of Comus, the city's oldest Carnival organization. Without this, none of this Mardi Gras stuff matters, it would just be Tuesday. It is a tremendous shite show, that we all laugh at. It is broadcast on local TV, and all the fake pomp and pretentiousness is just funny as hell.

And it shows that Rex may be the King of Carnival, but its the old school money people in Comus who really run the city.

In a more perfect world, this would have sparked the outrage that the barbie doll did

Comus, proteus and another are old parades that refused to intergrate so they no longer parade.
I get Comus is the oldest but they have not paraded since 1992.

Most of the Comus riders had ridden in Momus(Thursday), Proteus(Monday) and Rex earlier on Tuesday. That's a lot of fricking riding.

Proteus rides, Momus and Comus don't. Though Chaos is kind of a Momus re-boot.

The meeting of the Courts

See, the letter I got in the mail said it was March 12. I'm gonna guess that I'm dealing with a different meeting of the courts than this hoity-toity bunch.

I'm still gonna bring a sacrificial goat with me just in case.

No. I'm officially done with any MG balls. My niece was a maid in Rex and Queen of Proteus last year. Back to back nights suck. Not going when my nephews are Dukes in Rex in the future.

I'll be sure to alert the media about this extravaganza of pomposity so those self described "Blue Bloods" can get their 15 minutes of fame.

easiest way to get NOLA people's panties in a twist is to say mardi gras isn't that big of a deal

Every single person who doesn't live in a fly-over state has no idea mardi gras is even going on.

If only TulaneLSU could give play by play

That would be the best.

I miss Henri Schindler. His commentary was a nice contrast to Errol and Peggy. A splash of piquancy.
