He’s also only 22. He’s naturally going to put on more weight as he gets older and stronger. He’ll probably play at 315-320 this season

I do not see Warford going anywhere. If anything we may just have a beast as our “64 is eligible” guy this year

I think Easton is more of a potential cut than Warford

This is so interesting from Strief. Love the insight thanks for posting. Drew should have all day to throw to Trautman this year

Once all the dust settles, I think that is how it will play out - Ruiz at center, McCoy at guard. Ruiz was very diplomatic last night in declaring that he would play wherever they need him, but he made it clear that he considered his natural position to be center.

One of them for sure is gone. I can see them liking Easton for versatility but Warford is still better like others have said, would make a great backup OL. I think if he stays, though, he’ll take a pay cut

You can’t discount a pissed off sean payton factor though. If Warford shows up fat, he’s gone

And, with no OTAs, it makes it even harder to get a rookie acclimated to the Saints offense and its line calls. Not saying Ruiz wasn't worth a 1st round pick, but this is the one offseason, perhaps more than any other, that teams which return a unit intact are going to be way ahead of anyone else. This season is very likely to get compressed into a short time frame.

I don’t think there’s any doubt that will happen

Also fwiw, Jahri Evans was 6’4 315 in the early years.

Should also be noted Easton is younger (only a year but also has much less nfl mileage), cheaper, and signed for more years which is what you want in a backup. Larry is obviously a better talent, but older and more expensive. Not someone you want on your bench perse.

Larry is gone after this year regardless. We would still have Easton.

Watford has stretches where he’s a dominant mauler but both seasons he’s gotten dinged and finished poorly

They were frustrated with Warford yet it took 10 weeks for Easton to even get a snap.. we heard easton’s name brought up as expendable before Warford starting getting heat this offseason.

Maybe eastons contract makes it easier to find a trade partner. Ideally I think you want to clear both going into next season. Obviously warford contract runs up anyway

There was rumblings of him getting lazy last year. Really seemed to rub Payton the wrong way. I think his performance in the playoff game kinda sealed his fate with us.

Seemed to really half arse it and it cost us HUGE. Brees NEEDS to step up in the pocket and the tackles are taught to play a certain way so he can (they want the des to loop outside and never cut back inside). If he can't step up it makes the tackles look bad when it's mostly not their fault because they are doing what they were taught.

That’s fine until you consider the amazing talent that was still available. We should have traded down trike the team picking after us.

Not saying Ruiz won't get there, but for year 1 while he settles in it may be better for him to play guard so he can focus more on assignment and fundamentals instead of also needing to think about line calls.

This may be true for some of the season but I fully expect to see Ruiz at center and McCoy at guard for the playoffs.

By drafting Ruiz, the Saints are getting an upgrade at center and McCoy is the upgrade at guard.

This was a brilliant drafting decision.

but he lacks the physicality in run game.

I think he could develop nicely though.

just looking at some clips he gets out of his stance quick and once/if he gets his hands on you its usually a win.

Pretty fricking big for a center too. Could me a monster anchor in the middle for years.

Combine weights

McCoy 303

Martin 309

I do think McCoy will add weight easier & is prob the one that will have switch
