The saints become the favorites to win the division with Carr. Outside of Philly there is a lot of parity in the conference. It’s hard to convince them to take an L when there is still talent on this team, and you have bullets to add a few pieces

I don’t care for Carr or Allen but sitting through a season like this past one isn’t an option for many

Carr sucks. We will have a top 10 pick in 2024 if he’s our starter in 23.

You’re exactly right. It’s the same mistake the Dolphins made after Marino retired. For 15 years afterwards they looked for the next Marino, and they kept failing. When they finally started looking for the next franchise QB, they started succeeding.

I’m not saying the roster is without talent and can’t compete with a good QB I just question if Carr is that guy and especially at that price where it just fricks our already cap situation up. If they think he’s the guy then go for it but this will determine Dennis Allen’s career how Carr works out in New Orleans assuming this deal is all but done. I figured they could at least get them to eat $5-$7 million on his contract this year which is about what we would need to sign our draft class this year. Khai Harley will be very busy.

he'll be paid in the 10 - 15 range. his cap hit for us would be around 32mil.

32mil means that'll be in the 10 - 15 range of qb salaries for 2023.

Hurst is a G not a T and Peat is a giant labia with legs. Oh and you are paying Ramcyzk top shelf money and will have to give Ruiz a new contract next year or replace him. You’re paying McCoy big money too, but I’m good with that as long as he can stay healthy he will earn his deal.

Hurst played well at LT the last two years. He is a tackle.

You are in meltdown over a deal not done. Melts are melty over facts not guesses. So hold on to your meltdown till we know something then have at it.

Before brees we were an 7-9,8-8,9-7 team every year with a middle of the road QB never moving forward.

Then we got a real franchise QB, and had the 2nd overall pick.

You may be right about Jacobs and Davante but Jacobs is only slightly better and Olave is gonna be a superstar in his own right. After that, we are much much better. Our oline is better, Waller and Renfrow never play so I do think we have better weapons as a whole.

You don’t know that. We have so much can kicking to do outside of Jordan (who is getting old) we’ll have a new and very cheap free agent DL. We’re going to suck.

I disagree. We aren't likely to find the next Drew Brees, maybe ever, but we also aren't ever going to be legit Superbowl contenders ever again without a QB like that.

You are actually talking yourself into paying a 31 year old middle of the road starting QB all-pro level money and you are going to give the Raiders a draft pick for the pleasure. They should be paying US to take that ridiculous contract on and kissing our feet for it. Carr is not 2006 Drew Brees. I hope I’m proven wrong but if we really take that contract on it will be the death of the Saints for the rest of this decade. He would need to play like Josh Allen, Mahomes and Burrow to justify what he’s making and that’s not happening with Chris Olave as your WR1 when you had Davante Adams, possibly the best all around WR in the game, and a freak TE in Darren Waller to throw to and you still couldn’t get it done. Not to mention Josh Jacobs in the backfield. Downvote all you want but it’s the hard truth

A lot of people can no longer separate truth from what they want to be the truth.

Let’s be honest, unlike most NFL owners the saints are not a toy to Gayle and her hang arounds. A total rebuild means the dome doesn’t sell out and a loss in revenue. Carr keeps the team competitive, so $20 dome foams keep flowing
