Carr has had multiple head coaches and OCs. He's also never had a defense worth a damn. Also bad offensive lines and one of the worst run franchises in the NFL since he's been there. I wonder why he's struggling to win?
Some need to put things into perspective.

Waller played in 8 games this year. Renfrow was not good. Adams was doubled all season. The raiders were terrible on D and Josh McDaniels is a bad HC

I mean at best he turns into a Kirk cousins type acquisition, but given his age and track record he is more likely to be similar to Andy Dalton at the end of his Cincinnati career

Carr is a QB can be with team for 5 yrs. Who knows, his contract might be cap friendly just in case if QB draft pick works out. Carr is a capable player helps team win division next season.

I just don't get some of these excuses for Carr. What about the perspective of he would be working under Dennis Allen and Pete Carmichael? I just don't know if he's worth the cost for this franchise. He's a lot closer to what Andy Dalton was when he left the Bengals. And I assume much more costly.
I'd rather the Saints either go all in on an elite QB or use this current situation to fix the cap. Of course Allen wants to net more wins, so I assume they will do all they can to get Carr.

EXACTLY!! THANK YOU someone finally pulling their fan goggles off and looking at this objectively. Dennis Allen is doing this just to hope he somehow gets an extra win or two with Carr to save his job but we would still be a mediocre team with terrible coach. So instead of another 7-10 year maybe Carr gets them to 8-9 or 9-8 and saves his arse but we really aren’t any closer to contending. I would rather go through 2 very down seasons in order to do a proper rebuild and get the salary cap fixed then start over and build it back the right way.

I would gladly take an Adams on any team, even if he's getting doubled. He's still a baller and the double coverage still helps.
The Saints WRs have been heavily injured the last few years. At least Carr had a tremendous running game. I assume Kamara will be suspended a number of games next season?

His HC would be Dennis Allen.
Just not a fan of these excuses at the NFL level, but we shall see. Especially considering that very much could be the same situation here.
I'm not going to melt if/when the Saints get Carr (granted they don't give up much compensation.) I just slightly lean against it depending upon cost.

You would. But the team isnt. Dennis allen is not about to throw away years when he very well could be fired at the end of next season. Guys like Kamara, Latt, Demario etc arent going for that either.
Loomis and company, as much as people hate it, are not the type to tank. They've told you this for a while now. So you can keep getting upset about a potential Carr deal but they arent going to shut it down for 1 year much less multiple

I haven't been following things that closely, but I'd say a 3rd to get Carr isn't the worst thing we could do.
After watching the past couple years, it's clear we NEED a legit QB. Not an all-pro, but a competent guy who can sling it. We do seem to be ok at WR, there's Olave and Saleed from this past rookie class, Thomas (I guess) is still potentially there, Kamara out of the backfield is still there for now.
Defense is sound, if we had a better offense we'd have been in the playoffs the past couple seasons.

No doubt, but all we are doing is dying a slow death by a thousand cuts.
Zero chance Allen will tank cause he wants to keep his job, but us not tanking still keeps us in Limbo, we are just in Limbo with Derek Carr now instead of Dalton.
I pray im wrong and he lights it up tho.

All Dennis Allen is doing is delaying the ineveitable.
Cant blame him, he wants to stay employed.
It is what it is.

I'm not opposed to that. I'm fine with both options. I just don't think Carr is as bad as some do. The Raiders are a horribly ran club so I don't expect anyone to win over there in its current state.

Exactly and look at the weapons they had. We don’t have any of that.

Exactly.
I think we’re a little better than limbo. Basically fringe WC team. But with the continued pushing of money we are in fact just delaying the inevitable to the eventual bottoming out (like the 2005 season).
It’s like we kicked the can with Brees and Payton when we weren’t quite at SB level. Now we’re doing the same with the poor man’s Brees and coaching staff nowhere in the same stratosphere.

No way he gets 10-15 million a season. That's what Rookies get paid. He will get somewhere around Matt Ryan money and Kirk Cousins money but below Dak money.

Raiders weapons are nothing special aside from Adams. AK>Jacobs. Waller hasn’t done anything in 2 years and is always hurt. Saints Oline/TE>Raiders Oline/TE.

Dude ran for over 1600 yards at almost 5 ypc and caught over 50 passes for 400 yards.
Jacobs is younger, more productive, and also not going to court.
Also Devante>>>Olave.
The saints weapons are in no way better. This board overvalues the shite out of our aging players and rookies/promising young players.
