What positions would be of strongest need? Who would your draft picks be based on needs or BPA?

All these reply’s indicating we’re set at QB obviously haven’t watched the last two games.

Yeah it’s partially because of the O line but bad habits get developed due to poor play around the QB.

The real answer to this question is BPA no matter where we’re picking. If it’s #1 overall, you have to look at QB if there’s a can’t miss prospect.

I'd like a completely overhauled scouting dept to be making the selections.....but we continue to put total faith in Ireland because he had one amazing draft in 2017

I had GPT run our top 2 picks from 2018-2025 and here's what it looks like

quote:

Saints picks in rounds 1–2, 2018–2025:

2018 — Marcus Davenport
Bust. We traded away an additional first-round pick to move up for him, and he never came close to delivering the sustained production that investment demanded.

2019 — Erik McCoy
Clear hit. Above-average starter and two-time Pro Bowler.

2020 — Cesar Ruiz
Miss. Starting games doesn’t make someone a successful pick if the quality of play isn’t there. He hasn’t delivered what you should expect from a first-round guard.

2021 — Payton Turner, Pete Werner
Turner was a clear miss. Werner became a solid starter, but not a difference-maker.

2022 — Chris Olave, Trevor Penning, Alontae Taylor
Olave is a clear above-average starter. Penning was a miss. Taylor is a good starter, arguably above average.

2023 — Bryan Bresee, Isaiah Foskey
Bresee is borderline—some useful production, but uneven results. Foskey was a clear miss.

2024 — Taliese Fuaga, Kool-Aid McKinstry
Fuaga is still unsettled rather than a clear hit. His overall PFF grades were 65.7 as a rookie, 64.5 last year, and 54.6 so far this season. Simply holding a starting job isn’t enough to call him a successful first-round pick.

McKinstry has a stronger case. His coverage grade improved from 67.1 as a rookie to 71.4 last year, ranking 29th among qualified corners. This season, he’s down to 55.9 overall and 52.5 in coverage. I’d count him as a qualified hit based on last year, but not an established high-end starter.

2025 — Kelvin Banks, Tyler Shough
Encouraging early returns from both. Banks earned a 73.3 overall PFF grade as a rookie, so there’s actual performance behind the optimism. Still too early for settled career grades.

When your entire salary cap strategy depends on replenishing the roster through the draft, you need those picks to become the core of your team and just aren't hitting enough at a decent clip

Obviously too early to judge 2026 but so far this season both of your top 2 picks have contributed little to nothing. Hopefully, Tyson gets right and can flash down the stretch, so you have at least one position group you feel good about going into the draft.

The whole draft should be Oline and Dline.

With out fixing this 2 problems you're just putting lipstick on a pig. And lock up Chase Young for the rest of his career. He's shown me enough to warrant top Edge Rusher money to keep him on Black and Gold..

Would you take best available tackle or trade up for Jordan Seaton or Trevor Goosby?

A running back who gets attention on play action, o line, d line,
defensive back, linebacker. In that order.

So much of it depends on what we want to be as a team.

What do we want our offensive and defensive identities to actually be.

Kinda why I wish Mickey would’ve stepped aside and we had a younger coach/gm combo that had a consistent vision for the next 5+ years.

We’re doing the hard part by resetting and not kicking the can anymore despite some continuing to think it’s brilliant. We’re also trying to slowly accumulate talent through the draft of which I think we’ve hopefully drafted two real talents in Banks and Tyson if they are healthy.

I just don’t know what Mickey’s vision is long term because it often seems to simply be support the current HC fully. The issue with that is you’re essentially starting over with every coaching change

ETA: All I know is we can’t continue to throw premium first round picks at O line year after year. At some points we need to turn a third or fourth rounder into a quality starter. You can’t just keep going to that well over and over and failing or the whole team suffers and is largely devoid of premium talent.

Still too early to tell on individual names but the best Olineman and Dlineman.

Run defense should addressed in draft and/or free agency. Biggest area of weakness on the team.

That decision has been made. You have to build around him and if it doesn't work out, you try and replace him after you've got a roster.

Draft a running back; center in waiting maybe; other than that, every single position on defense.
