re: Who was the LB (i think) recruit from north LA area that went to USC?

He has been at Wisconsin the past two seasons.
Here is his ESPN state page - LINK

If it was my son, and he was good enough to have competing offers, I would encourage him to play at Stanford, Northwestern, Vandy, Duke - some really good school that he wouldn’t get into without athletics.

That was pretty awful.
Ranking biggest positions of need
Posted by jbeard on 11/24/25 at 7:22 am
What are the top 3 positions the Saints need to address before next season?
Choices are:
K
OG
CB1
WR
RB
EDGE
DT

Ruiz has never been especially good.
It’s not all his fault. I mean, he is a center playing guard. Not sure why we ever tried the experiment.
His run blocking is okay but his pass blocking has always seemed poor to terrible.

FSU is a terrible loss. It was the first game of the season, yes.
But they got stomped by an average team.

I thought he was off to a good start the year he hurt his knee.
The team was playing well. CSP knew how to call plays that played to Winston’s strengths, and he was making fewer mistakes. That season went down the chute after he got hurt.

The online is bad.
Don’t be fooled by a QB who can move a little.
They do not pass block well and they do not run block well. As a whole, it is the worst position group on the team.

Why is our depth so bad o-line?
A few people get hurt and we’re playing a true freshman guard at tackle.

I would add that a student can’t truly be judged on test scores alone.
Test scores don’t account for understanding people and building relationships, which is what gets most people ahead.

Veteran QB presence could help the young guys.
Would have been nice to have this year.

Seattle and this one were both bad.
On the road against good teams, this Saints team is going to struggle. They do not have the talent to overcome mistakes and play from behind.
Against both Seattle and LA, the defense got lit up. The Seahawks game was over at halftime, and the Rams just did whatever they wanted. Did the Saints have just three second half possessions? I mean, the Rams drives were all 7-9 minutes.
The secondary looks terrible against teams with good WRs and experienced QBs. And the offense just lacks talent and imagination. Moore is calling these games like a coach who has a good defense and running game and wants to protect his quarterback. Every pass is 6 yards. The problem is: we don’t have a good defense or running game.

Just what all the great coaches want: a governor meddling with the football program.

Yeah, Saints not doing Shough any favors with his first start on the road against that defensive front.
Guess it’s sink or swim.

I mean, most quarterbacks look better in the last two minutes of a half. More about the defense than the offense.
I agree that he threw the ball better that last drive. More accurate.

He HAS missed about a kick a week, it seems.
re: Does Rattler start against the Bills?
Posted by jbeard on 9/26/25 at 1:23 pm to saints5021
If they loser 3-4 more in a row, then talk will start about Rattler maybe tying the record for consecutive losses as a starter (15, I think), and that will become a distraction.
At that point, the team will look at starting Shough in a home game, against a non-elite team. They’ll want to see what they have.
And if they are winless going into Charlotte and lose to the Panthers, that puts them at 0-10. At that point, they should give Shough and some other backups a shot.

Reuben Mayes and Jabari Greer were both good answers.
Pre-snap penalties really hurt.
This team really needs to run the ball to have success and downs lst and 1and 15 and 2nd and 15 make it hard.
When they stayed on schedule the running game looked pretty good.

Yeah, a solid veteran would have been nice to have. Jamies, Teddy, anyone who has started games or been in the league more than a year or two.
I’m still thinking they could pick up a veteran who gets cut.

AND took 3 sacks, but one was pretty much at the line of scrimmage. Still, he has to try and avoid that. This team is not talented enough to overcome negative plays.
