Not insecure. I know it is only two games but look at saints history. Only have been highly successful under a young, bright offensive coordinator. Hate to lose him and go back to shite

Everyone had Ben Johnson as the top HC candidate for 2024.

No sense getting all worked up about nothing.

Win and you figure it out later. Either an internal replacement or it becomes a more appealing job and you can get a up and coming guy.

I mean the Shanahan tree has a pretty sturdy Kubiak Branch.

should be noted. DA has 1 year left on his deal at the moment. He got 8 million a year when he was a shite coach... he might tell them to back the brinks up... maybe just maybe mickey says no thanks. Doubt it. Also note, DA has been within the Saints organization a total of 15 years of the past 19 years since 2006. pretty nuts.

I found this out this offseason, but the reason the Rams don't attend the combine is because they are having a coaching school every year at that time to educate their new hires on how the organization is run and how the coaches are supposed to operate. They have to do this every year due to the insane turnover they have every year from teams poaching them.

Has nothing to do with being in Louisiana. That’s a very insecure mentality. If a guy is ultra successful he’s going to get opportunities in a league always looking for the next big thing.

Wasn’t the issue more Ben demanding a ridiculously high salary out the gate akin to successful head coaches?

There is nothing special about Kubiak or the offense he brought over. It's basically the offense about half the league is running now.

The biggest thing about Kubiak is that the organization went out and hired someone who can implement a modern system. His offense isn’t unique, but through two games he’s been fantastic at utilizing our weapons to maximize their skill and putting them in positions to be successful.

For example, he’s put a lot of tape out there of Taysom at FB motioning out into space but not getting many carries from that position. Teams have to respect his ability to carry the ball, even if there’s no film on it, and, hopefully, if we catch a team not prepped for it from lack of film he exploits them with FB dives all day.

I’m not too worried about Kubiak leaving in the big picture, I’m worried about who the next guy will be.

If you're going to leave a good situation you're going to want some security. I could see Klint demanding a lot as well with all of our offensive pieces in place for at least this year and next.

Did you really just equate losing Joe Brady to the NFL to losing Saban?

let's see how the rest of the season plays out when teams have more film on us.

as far as keeping him? maybe just have to find someone else from the shanahan tree if he gets a hc gig.

we could just be saddled with an oc no one wants instead of having kubiak. it's how it is.

Johnson turned down offers after last season because he didn`t like the
ownership and disfunction of the organization. The really good OCsand DCs
wait for an opportunity with a franchise that is run really well.Unfortunitly
those teams usually don`t need to fire coaches. If Kubiak is smart he will
be very decerning when it comes to take a HCing job.Get the wrong job
and its a career killer for the most part with few exceptions.

On the flip side, if you wait too long then you could miss your opportunity. I am by no means saying Ben Johnson won't get a HC job when he wants one but look at his start to 2024. Its hard to have sustained success as an OC without a top QB. Once DCs start to get a feel for your tendencies and what you want to do, its up to the QB and OC to make adjustments. Good QBs can make those adjustments, average QBs (Goff) can't.

No, they take the guaranteed contract and the opportunity to become a HC

Ben Johnson was in the midst of a Super Bowl run while teams were courting him. Many speculate he was just focused on Detroit which is why he didn’t take those 2nd interviews. His agent also appears to have a high number teams didn’t want to go to

Opposite of what SP tells people— Parcells told SP not to take the Raiders job, so did Gruden.

DA had the experience so he’ll advise Klint the same, Gary knows why not to do this also.
