Update: New Orleans No Longer Hosting Super Bowl in 2024
Posted on 3/26/20 at 11:20 am

Due to the increase to 17 games and the Superbowl now being pushed back an additional week, New Orleans will now host in 2025.
Reason, that extra week would cause the Superbowl to be on the same Sunday as Bacchus.

I was very curious about this.

It would be pushed back 2 weeks (unless the season starts earlier). They are also adding an extra bye week.
Any source?
Also a SB you MIGHT get once every 10 years vs. one of MANY parades you see EVERY year? No brainer.

cancel Bacchus!
I thought this already happened due to the banning of tandem floats.

WHO MADE that call? one parade over multimillion dollar SB?

Rich People in Costumes trumping Rich People in Uniforms.

It's not about Bacchus. NOLA can't accommodate Mardi Gras and the SB the same weekend. It's not feasible.

Back in 2012 the Super Bowl was in NOlA and it split the last two weekends of Mardi Gras up. My buddy at the time was a student at LSU, and ended up failing out b/c he spent those 3 weeks in NOLA. He just never left.
IDK how this is relevant but I always found it hysterical.

Bacchus rolled uptown with TELEVISIONS on their floats one years when NOS had a playoff game.

The Saints have never had a playoff game Mardi Gras weekend. For the Patriots vs Giants SB a lot of floats had tv’s on them.

Did they just find out the Super Bowl is the same weekend as Bacchus?

Move Bacchus up a week. Endymion too if necessary. I am in Endymion and would not like this at all, but I would agree to it in order to save the Super Bowl.

NBA All-Star weekend was in New Orleans same year also I almost lost my job. I think they did Mardi Gras a week, shut down for superbowl week, mardi gras started backup, shut down for nba all-star weekend, and finished mardi gras up. I had a blast that year lol
