And we just paid him $17M a year. Some of yall will justify anything.

And that’s fine. I just don’t agree with spending that kind of money on a player like that considering the state of the roster and cap as well as the future of the franchise.
Making this deal would have made more sense if we were actually contending

They are just happy the New Orleans Saints exist and in the club. Record and performance are irrelevant.
The city, by almost any standard (population, business support, wealth, Fortune 500, etc) is no longer a major pro sports league so just having a team is enough to this crowd.
Any move an incompetent Loomis makes is to be treasured and cap compliance is to be celebrated even if it’s obvious to astute observers future performance is compromised.

Loomis has set us up for failure with his house of cards approach.
I get oh so tired of hearing this drivel year after year. We apparently have been set up for failure since 2010 according to some people. Every year is the year the big bad boogie cap is going to catch up with us.

The other hilarious one is how everything good that ever happened has always had nothing to do with Loomis, but every single bad thing has everything to do with Loomis. This guy lives rent free in so many heads. He needs a U Mad Bro? meme.
Dude must be a Mr Rogers level sniper to take out so many of our players with injuries last year.

I think Loomis criticism is well deserved. We’ve been prime for a rebuild the last 3-4 years. But all the guy wants to do is try his arse off to win 5-8 games a year. It is pretty infuriating. Chase Young’s extension is another example of this. Chase Young being pretty average to below average is a reason, why we were realistically a 2 win football team last season, without some insane missed fg luck by our opponents.
We should be clearing the deck, not adding to it, with losing football players that have multiple years of tape showing that they are what they are.

5-12 in the worst division in football and we just fired a coach.
One of the oldest rosters in the league with the worst cap situation next 3 years running is indisputable.
The boogie cap of a lost decade is here and you are blind because it’s the flowery optimism of the ides of March.
In a morbid way, I’m looking forward to the season starting and watching the losses pile up so so some of you can get hit with reality.

If Mickey builds back a winner post Payton/Brees he’ll get his credit, but in the years since their exit I don’t see how anyone can sit here and act it’s just been people being mean to poor old Mickey, we’ve been a steady decline. Placing all of the blame on injuries is crap and you know it.
Again I repeat to you

In the end you’re arguing for a GM that you have admitted the following on,
1) he’s had multiple bad FA signings that have hindered his own cap strategy.
2) hired an incompetent HC and stuck with him. Making winning with a middling, thin roster even harder. So the argument is “guys the mismanagement of the cap isn’t even our biggest issue. He sucks in other areas even more!”
The nicest thing you keep saying is “we haven’t become a laughingstock like other teams!”
If you want to be Mickey’s biggest cheerleader go for it but maybe quit being a condescending twat that thinks he’s smarter than everyone about it.

In reality, we are a laughingstock to many fanbases, national media, sportsbooks, etc
Teams that actually bottom out and have some hope to get a franchise QB get more respect than we do with our frequent draft busts and weird salary cap strategy (that was fine with Brees, but is retarded at best without him).

I hate this. He didn’t do anything on his prove it deal and now we give him a three year deal! WTF?!?!
Can’t wait to watch QBs have 10 seconds in the pocket before he “pressures” them. His 5 1/2 sacks ain’t really impacting the game.
What a crap signing. Hate it!!!

Chase Young? No. He had a good year.
He had a year comparable to Greg Rousseau who got paid substantially more by Buffalo.
Posted on 3/11/25 at 7:21 am to Suntiger
He had 66 pressures on the QB, Rousseau who got paid more with more years had 63.
You’re just wrong. This is not a huge contract for a 25 year old DE that got pressure.
I hate with a passion what Loomis has done to this team but try to remain objective.

This is kind of like the Carr deal
Objectively, the contract isn't bad in terms of the market of the entire NFL
For the Saints and our situation, it's terrible.
This means we're back to "win now" mode and all of this cap rebuilding is over.

Logic and watching games is hard for the tards.
Clearly, if you watched any games last year you’d know that Chase Young was chasing Qb’s around all season last year, and had them running for their lives. We just didnt have a swarming defense to help get sacks, tfls, etc.
Young had 66 qb pressures and 21 qb hits meaning he was all over the qb often. He is 25 and def worth a multiple year deal.
If he plays better he will get a newer bigger deal in the future.
Also a 6’6 265 pound Young with his size and athleticism is perfect for our 3-4 defense.
