Would absolutely hire Gruden.

Carmichael taking the role back would literally be Orgeron-Ensminger 2.0

Would be a good hire

What's the argument for liking Gruden over PCJR?

Jay Gruden can call his own plays and run an offense while it really feels like Carmichael was Payton’s special assistant.

Carmichael is a behind the scenes kind of guy. You know the truth... stop acting like you don't.

I don't love the idea but definitely prefer it to some of the other options we've seen. He's been out of the league for a year, right?

Gruden has the pedigree and track record. Looks like DC wants his offensive coordinator to handle that side of the ball. If Pete isn't up for it, I think Gruden is a great hire.

curious, did it sound like it was THE hire or just that he was interviewing?

Jay Gruden is a very bright offensive mind, excellent play caller, does a great job of making defenses play the entire field.

I think Gruden would be a good fit here as O.C.
I wouldn't be hurt if Carmichael reconsidered either.
Keep in mind when CSP was suspended we still had the #3 overall Offense and #1 Pass offense in the league with Carmichael running it and you can't help but think some of Payton's thought process would have rubbed off over the years.

I got a two word text from someone that sometimes has info "Jay Gruden" and then someone mentioned it in my groupme 20 minutes later.

Could just be everyone knew he interviewed. That's the extent of my knowledge.

Driveman has had info in the past. He has a connection to the Saints and Pelicans through merchandising I think.

todayy it was said PCJr isn't completely eliminated from the possibility of the position. Do you think Dennis Allen knows what you know?

All the bitching about retread hires, and people are ok with Jay Gruden

Funny all the guys under him in Washington went on to success while he just continued to prove to be a dime a dozen offensive mind

I think this could be a solid hire. I'm not against it.

We put together a good group when we hired Jeff Ireland, Dennis Allen, Dan Campbell, Mike Nolan, and a few others that were all re-treads. I don't understand the hate either

I think carmichael just feels more comfortable as the qb coach/co-oc role he has had his entire career here.

I'd bring in an oc and let pete stay in that spot. I keep ronald curry as qb coach too and hire a new wr coach.
