This is the only path forward and I’m not sure how some saints fans don’t see it. Just suck enough next year to get the number 1 pick. Next years QB class is way better than this years. It would also mean Loomis is likely gone, Gayle just can’t let him push the cap out anymore. Cut Carr post June 1 and eat the cap hit, same with the other older guys, sign only vet minimum free agents this year and to 1 year deals. There is no turning this thing around before it hits rock bottom just go ahead and bite the bullet on it. We could be the top opening next offseason if we simply have open cap space and the number 1 overall pick to let our guy draft his QB of the future

Will not get the team cap compliant. Not possible.

There is ZERO paths to just "fixing the cap" this offseason. Zero. it's going to be multiple years, because it has to be.

Also:

Ah yes, Mickey, the current decision maker in the building, is just going to accept his fate and hire a dud coach on purpose to tank for a team he won't work for. Are you serious?

Also, you can't forget that he's spouting this "winning franchises don't panic" and "we don't look at the short term" bullshite.

Just because the results aren't what we want doesn't mean we're doing things the right way.

I was just spitballing on Russini's equivocating statements.

The most likely thing is that Moore isn't in love with the job because of that issue that everyone already knows.

However, I think Moore ultimately takes the job

He could be jockeying for more money but that’s about it

Yes, and more years on the contract to get past the first 2 terrible ones that this franchise will be in. That is certainly possible. Wants a 7 year contract instead of a 4-5 year one.

Or he is telling Loomis to jettison Carr or work with him for a plan on the QB issue.

"Leaks" if it is one, are done with a purpose.

However if he turns us down it may be a blessing in disguise. it would be such another embarrassment that Gayle may be forced to act if next season is a disaster, again.

If moore turns us down, and we end up with Rizzi I don’t think there’s any chance loomis survives.

The dome will legit be empty next year if things don’t change. That’s going to get gayle’s attention if nothing else will.

We’ll see, what’s likely happening is he realizes even if successful and has future cap room no in demand FAs will sign. Furthermore his potential staff is telling him “I’d like to work for you but NOLA is a non starter”.

Expect Moore to pull out soon.

We offered top $ for Clowney, Suh, Watson, and OBJ. Why did we miss on all 4? Who is the last coveted FA we signed?

Moore should be asking 8 years, $15 M per. We’ll have to cave given the shitshow of this search to avoid more media ridicule.
