Rumor from the Inside

My buddy called me a bit ago with these exact words:
Update: Found a quote from Dr. Andrews and an NFL source
quote:
"After Dr. Andrews cleared Jake Long yesterday he moved up to the first option under resigning Bushrod on the Saints FA big board. Don't be surprised if he is brought in for a visit if negotiations with Bushrod stall quickly...feel free to post it online"
Update: Found a quote from Dr. Andrews and an NFL source
quote:
"I just saw him and he looked great," said Andrews. "I'm not worried about him at all." Long has dealt with various injuries over the past few seasons, most recently a torn triceps in Week 13. But Andrews says if the season were to start tomorrow, Long would be cleared to play. "If you think Long is healthy, you better think long and hard about him," said one NFL source. "He wasn't very good last year, but he was hurt. If he's healthy again, he takes care of a lot of problems."

Are you gonna post a thread here when your buddy gets fired?
ETA:
FWIW, the Long family is a bunch of assholes.

Doesn't he want 10-11 mil a year?
Posted on 3/7/13 at 7:33 am to Bduhon55
Well that would be something.
Posted on 3/7/13 at 7:43 am to Bduhon55
How the hell would we be able to afford him? No way this happens

Good luck. Aren't y'all still about 3 million over cap currently? Yea, I'm sure Jake Long will come play for free though.

We can clear up a ton of cap room once we do something with Smith and Vilma, and we're only slightly over the cap now.

more rotoworld-
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that free agent LT Jake Long is seeking $11 million per year on his next contract.
The Miami Herald reported late in January that Long was looking for upwards of $10 million annually. The Dolphins are reportedly only willing to give him around $6-7 million per year, so his chances of returning are looking slim if what Rapoport is hearing is true. Our own Evan Silva predicts a re-signing with the Dolphins for five years and $37.5 million after hitting the market exposes Long's value as not as rich as he hopes.

$10+mil seems stiff, the predicted $7-8mil per year actually wouldn't be a whole lot diff than Bushhog. Bushmans last two years were nearly $10mil. He'll cost more this time. Long might be a better value when you put it in that perspective. Long is nearly a year younger btw (28 in May).

I dont think this means what you think it means. I'm betting it was much more of a big board type of thing and I'm sure all 32 teams moved Jake Long to #1 on their FA listings after this report.

This. I'm sure they had Andrew Luck on top of their draft board last year too.

I don't think you read the quote or understood it. Everyone knows what it means.
It means if the Saints don't re-sign Bushrod, the next preffered option is to explore signing Long.
Quit trying so hard.

The chances that the Saints pick up Long are slim and none.
They're trying to reduce the cap problems...not add to them.

I like the fact that they going to take care of LT in free agency and not the draft. Lets them go bpa.

Yeah, I just don't think we can afford him. It would be nice, but Loomis would have to do some major money management to get him in under the cap.

never did people think we'd be able to sign a ben grubbs if we lost on carl nicks. Not too indifferent of a situation.
Posted on 3/7/13 at 9:35 am to Chad504boy
He isn't going to get 11 mil from anyone he will most likely be around the 6-7 mil range after hitting FA market
Posted on 3/7/13 at 9:42 am to Bduhon55
Don't want for that kind of money. I'd much rather get Johnson at #15 and McKinney as a 1-2 year stopgap
