League will have their shills at E$PN run out any old line to hide the fact that they fricked up and cost Drew his second Super Bowl. It’s all on Roger and his crooked cronies!

Not giving it a click, but did he mention that Drew was injured vs. the Falcons, and that the beginning of his "decline" last year coincided exactly with that injury?

Brees before that hit:

2,964 Yds, (257/334 77%) 25 TDs, 1 Int (127 rating)
Per Game Avg : 296 yards (26/33) 2.5 TDS, .1 Int
8.9 yards gained per pass attempt

Brees after that hit:

1,028 Yds, (107/155 69%) 7 TDs, 4 Ints (91.5 rating)
Per Game Avg : 205 yards (21/31) 1.4 TDs, .8 Int
6.6 yards gained per pass attempt

Any notion that age suddenly caught up with him last year and that Drew will not match last year's All-Pro production is wishful thinking by a media who would be sucking his dick 24/7 if he played on the East or West coast.

He did, but what he said was pretty ehh...

quote:

What about that play against Atlanta? In an attempt to draw a clear line between Brees' two seasons, some have pointed to the Thanksgiving night win over the Falcons and the tackle Brees attempted on his second interception of the season. After an ill-advised throw was picked off by Damontae Kazee, the Falcons safety attempted to return the pass for a pick-six. Kazee should have been (and eventually was) ruled down at the point of the catch, but without a whistle being blown, Brees attempted to take on blocking Falcons corner Desmond Trufant and was whipped sideways as Kazee ran past. The timing on a macro level makes sense, given that Brees' second season started with the Cowboys game the following week. The problem with that theory, though, is that Brees threw that interception against the Falcons in the first quarter. Over the remainder of the game, he went 10-of-15 for 115 yards with three touchdowns and no picks. The Saints didn't need much from Brees in a game during which they ran for 150 yards and the Falcons turned the ball over four times, but when they called on their star quarterback, he was efficient and extremely effective. Is it possible that Brees rode an adrenaline high (or a painkilling shot) in the game, woke up sore, and then wasn't the same player after that Thursday night game? I suppose, but Occam's razor suggests that Brees wouldn't have been his usual dominant self for three quarters after the hit before suddenly declining the following week against Dallas. I'm skeptical the hit played a significant role in his falloff.

Lotta people reacting to the headline and not the substance. Remember that Barnwell doesn't write the headline, which is supposed to drive clicks, not necessarily reflect the substance of the article.

Perfect timing. Drew will probably have that front page on his locker all season.

Did Barnwell even watch the game? It was another blatantly missed pass interference call on the play.

Week 12 v Falcons

Go to minute 19:00 and start watching.

Seriously, Brady has significantly declined in the last few years, yet they forget he is older than Brees.

The media doesn’t want Brees to be as good as he is, PERIOD. It upsets them that he plays for a smaller market team. By the time he retires he will be #1 in passing yards, passing TD’s, and completion percentage. ANY other QB does that and they suck their cock

Well he needs to stop getting hurt then because it seems like this has been happening late in the year since 2013.

I’ll try to save some of you guys the click, or at least give a fair warning as to the idiocy that you are about to indulge in. Personally I couldn’t get past his opening statement!

“For years, the New Orleans Saints held back Drew Brees from winning his second Super Bowl. Now, could the biggest obstacle for the 2019 Saints actually be their star quarterback?”

Had it read...For years, commissioner Roger Goodell held back Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints from winning their second Super Bowl.....it would have further peaked my interest. This article was obviously not written for the entertainment of Saints fans.

I would like further explanation as to how exactly the Saints held him back? As if being on the Cowboys would have not held him back? F*** that writer!

I'd actually suggest Occam's razor supports the hit being the sole reason. Because how can age so suddenly hit a player that it's literally one week he's All Pro, next he's not average? The writer is really struggling to brush that Atlanta hit aside so much he abused basic logic.

I think the theory of the shoulder injury is valid. My only concern is if it's better now.
