Mike D had a good point. If you package these picks to move up for a QB or an OT, you are essentially trading 3 first round picks for a player. The only one you would do that for is a QB and there is not a guy in that draft that is worth trading 3 firsts for.
I stand by my original assessment. The Saints have their cloud of guys and their absolute needs. They must really like a handful of guys at OT / WR / FS and want to get one of each with their first 3 picks. With all the restructuring we did, they probably saw it as wise to get two studs on 5 year cost controlled contracts to offset what we are spending on other positions.

I don't see them trading 3-1st round picks, to get in the top 10, for a QB in this draft. Now if one of the QB's fall to us at 16, I can see us picking one.

Coral's issue is that he didn't run an offense and none of us are privy to his white board work in interviews. They're effectively running a Baylor type system which is terrible for developing an actual quarterback for the NFL.
In a normal year he'd be a late second to mid 3rd developmental Gamble

yeah it's not like Kiffin is known for his quarterback development or anything.

b. Who are Kiffin's NFL guys? He's good at developing college QBs but I don't think he exactly has a track record of developing QBs for NFL mindsets, and this goes as far back as Leinart. Him moving more towards the Briles-esque offense post-FAU is going to likely keep the list at a small number b/c that offense is TERRIBLE for developing NFL QBs (although it does help QBs in college)

To be fair college coaches don't get paid to develop NFL quarterbacks...guys that are NFL QB coaches do. Kiffin gets paid to consistently win ball games, and if a one-read spread offense helps him get W's then that's all that matters. And I say this as a person who hates that type of offense.

I am not too sure about that. New HC "stuck with old HC staff", chaotic cap situation and a number of holes around the team. IMO, that takes the "need" out of it, at a minimum I would believe the front office would most likely give him 1-2 years, then allow him to bring in new assistants before moving on.
With that said, anyone looking at this team can see they have a top Defense, one of the best RBs & WRs in the game, historically top 5 O-line; this team should be making playoffs for the next few years w/ competent QB play

There are 2 prototypical Saints DEs, though (Walker and Johnson). I wouldn't be shocked if we picked one.

You saying that these QBs suck does not change that yesterday's trade is highly likely to setup another trade for a QB. Teams make big plays for top draft QB's all the time whether we like it or not. It's the most crucial position on the team, so desperation forces impatience and boldness.

If the Saints were planning on using both of these picks, they would’ve held on to 18 in the trade and not moved back to 19. Why give another team a chance to draft the guy you want? Would the Eagles have walked away if we wanted 18 instead of 19? The reason we didn’t hold on to 18 is that the Saints don’t care, they just needed two 1st round picks in this year’s draft to package for a move up.
