I hate to get into this again after the Davenport trade nonsense, but how is packaging these picks to move up trading THREE first rounders? The Saints would have given up a 1st this year, a 1st next year, and a 2nd in 2024 (along with some debris). That’s two 1sts and a distant future 2nd.

He doesn’t pass the eye test whatsoever to me. I feel like most of us watch so much football that there’s some subconscious stuff going on with an eye test and I trust it

I think they draft pick trade was done more for flexibility than for a target of specific players in this draft.
1. Having more draft pick helps them workout the future cap situation. Lower overall cost for the player over the rookie contract and the future value of money vs cap increase.
2. They have flexibility to trade back and still get their players and additional picks. They do not need more picks in this draft so they could get higher pick in future drafts. If they are able to bank extra future picks the team would be able to manage the cap better and take advantage of value opportunities.

Ridder is the only QB in this year's class to really have to read defenses. He also is like Jordan Jefferson where he can run but isn't a runner.
Pickett has no pocket presence and played a lot of backyard football. He's also old, not built well, and has physical limitations.
Coral has potential but has shown nothing b/c of his college offense. Probably relies on running too much.
Willis is Coral but with bigger question marks about his mental game but by far the most physical potential/upside.
Like I said, Ridder is the best but his ceiling is solid starter. He's nothing special.
Willis is a blank canvas for fans b/c he can be as good or bad as you want b/c of the simpleton offense and competition he faced. Coral is Willis-lite. Pickett is a 24-year old Zach Wilson without the arm talent

There are no QBs in this class that have more upside then Winston. He was a #1 overall pick a few years ago and is one of nine QBs in NFL history to throw for 5K yards (just 3 years ago). He can take us to the promised land if we give him the WRs to throw to.

everyone I've seen has him listed as a pass-first quarterback.
ETA: I'll give you his 2020 season. He definitely took off running way too often when his first option wasn't open. He was MUCH better at going through his progressions last season.

Saints traded one first round next year for one this year and threw in a 3rd and a 2nd two years down the road. This is a win now team. They need a top Tackle and top WR. This trade allows them get those with both being on rookie deals. Cmon, all these analysts and idiotic fans saying it has to be a QB. There are 0 QBs in this draft worth taking where we are drafting. Continue to stack the roster.

I never said Corral couldn't pass.
His mobility is an integral part of his total package. That's why he's a lesser version of Willis.
Both also have "college offense" question marks (esp for fans who don't get to truly test their decisionmaking/reading ability)
