New Orleans should be a top target for HC's when DA is fired

We have a manageable / veteran QB in Carr, that is not a long term answer, but you can use him to build / develop a young QB.

Saints have money to spend, if and when cap number is realistic and if/when loomis stop putting us in a hole.

Defense is decent and just missing a few spots. So, really just a Oline and WR group rebuild.

This is not a good situation to come to. There isn’t a top candidate that’s going to want to come here unless they pay a ton and give him some sort of control over the roster.

The frick is this mental gymnastics shite?

You need help at all 3 levels. You need rb, wr, linemen, and have to find a qb

You're OK at dline, but you need lber and safeties.

This is a multi year rebuild unless you have b2b 2017 type drafts

I love your positivity, but this will be a bottom of the barrel job.

The only good thing going for it is that the ownership clearly has a lot of patience and will give you a long leash.

There is systemic rot from head to toe. But with any good coach, money talks and bullshite walks.

It's quite possibly the worst situation in the league for a HC to come into. Thanks Loomis.

Ownership often means more than a lot of things to HCs.

From a fan perspective, Gayle is a bad owner.

From a HC perspective, she's probably a really good one. She puts out money, stays out of things and doesn't meddle at all, doesn't give the press crazy soundbites, and gives HCs a very long leash.

That's the one positive about this job.

The saints are going to have one of the least desirable HC openings in recent memory.

I don't think you're ok at d line. Need a lot of help there.
Granderson is your only guy.

Breese has taken a step back.

Other than not burning the whole thing down Gayle checks the boxes for what coaches want in an owner. She spends money, she doesn't meddle in personnel decisions and they support coach (to a fault).

Yeah.

Ownership is probably a big plus to a future HC.

Everything else is a negative

Saints are in salary cap hell for at least 2025 and 2026.

Hopefully Loomis just leaves it like that instead of kicking the can further down the road by restructuring deals to create cap space in the short term that end up leaving us with dead cap money in 2027 or beyond. This team is nowhere near a contender, so focus on drafting well and clearing unwanted cap liabilities so we’ll be in a good position a few years from now.

If anything lets accelerate hits into 25 wherever possible. Back to back top picks and a clean 2026 cap is the ideal.

No top candidate will want to suffer that but it’s the fastest way to earned hope and not imaginary hope

It’s actually one of the worst situations in the league

It's actually going to be the opposite. Will be one of the least desirable HC openings that I can remember given our cap situation

They will have options, but they will be one of the bottom options available.

At least 2 years from having comfortable cap room if the front office would plan for resetting the cap. But now that Loomis will have a new coach to appease, he's about to go all in even more.

Defense is decent and just missing a few spots.

While you may be able to successfully argue this to a point, the fact of the matter is the defense is old and has limited depth everywhere but CB. New coach will have to deal with a lot of aging players that won't be in the league by the time he gets this team where it needs to be, but will also hinder is ability to bring in the guys he needs/wants. Also have to consider a new HC will bring in a new DC, will we have the players for that scheme?

They did this to give Kubiak a shot at the job. No one else is coming here. They suck. Right now, it is his to lose

I barely even follow the team anymore and even I know that all of the above is horseshite.

it’s way better than it was in 06 and the saints are one of the few organizations where the HC does have a lot of power and an owner who doesn’t interfere with everything.

You’re in for a rude awakening. We’ll go through at least 2 head coaches before we’re finally winning again. Back to the pre CSP days.
