We are an old team in a terrible cap situation. Nothing ideal about that.

Saints are in salary cap hell for at least 2025 and 2026.

Hopefully Loomis just leaves it like that instead of kicking the can further down the road by restructuring deals to create cap space in the short term that end up leaving us with dead cap money in 2027 or beyond. This team is nowhere near a contender, so focus on drafting well and clearing unwanted cap liabilities so we’ll be in a good position a few years from now.

Problem is, in order to get cap compliant for 2025, they have to move that money into 2026. Then when 2026's number is ridiculous, you have to move that money into 2027. You can make some moves to reduce the amount that needs to be moved, but a good chunk will need to be moved for this team to be able to field a team

Also, when looking past the figures of the 2025 cap there is already $16.8M in dead cap tied to MT13 & Winston. Then you have another $17.5M in void years between Juwan, Chase & Kpassagnon. Does Ram retire in 2025 counting another $23M (pre 6/01) or $11M (post 6/01) in dead cap. And this is before you move players before tomorrow or in the offseason

Should do the following (b/c she ain't getting rid of Mickey)

1. Eat as much salary as possible
2. Trade whoever we can for whatever we can
3. Draft, sign, and play young guys on rookie deals. Focus on LOS
4. Suck hard and draft QB of the future in '26
5. Tell HC is not required to win games in year 1 or 2 to keep his job

It's quite possibly the worst situation in the league for a HC to come into.

Yeah this is crazy talk

I made a thread specifically about how bad this opening is and how it's extremely unlikely any top prospect would even consider us

They did this to give Kubiak a shot at the job. No one else is coming here. They suck. Right now, it is his to lose

I have to agree. There is literally no HC that could turn this team around. They'll have to hire from within because anyone coming here knows they can't win.

New Orleans is a complete and total teardown and rebuild. Everybody on this roster should be considered moveable.

Put somebody on the staff in the interim role, fire Loomis, and then start searching for someone with brains. Start the fire sale and start stacking up picks. It's time for the new look, post-SP Saints.

Our situation is not a Top job

Carr is strapped to the Saints for at least 2 more seasons and with his contract...can't imagine many great OCs foaming at the mouth to work with Derek

Kamara is gonna be 30...then what Jamal...Kendre

Our roster is just the right amount of old, unmovable contracts, and low ceiling talent

1 offseason can't fix this team. It will take multiple good to great offseasons to start going the right way again

There is also the GM issue, the scouting issue, among many others like training staff...Saints are going to be bad for years

Nope. Dead cap space going to kill them for a while.
