Saints will beat the Giants and at least 1 other team to finish with 8 wins and possibly even win the division with that record.

Pete Carmichael will "step down" and either retire or go join SP in Denver.

DA will get a chance to hire his own guy, and after an extensive search, they will promote Ronald Curry to OC.

They now have a pick in the teens, and will use it on a WR or OL. They will pick one of each within the first 4 rounds.

They will restructure Carr and push even more cap forward, and bring in some vets on the OL and DL.

They will go into next season touting how Curry has really rejuvenated this Offense since he is allowed "his" approach finally, and its a breath of fresh air.

The team will look pretty much the same, and we will be back here around this time next year, treading water at 8ish wins. While the offense may improve some, the defense will be taking a step back more and more due to its age.

Rinse, repeat

Barring divine intervention sounds about right.

Excellent analysis. We are trapped in the lower end of the middle third.

Unfortunately, the road to the upper third of the league leads through the bottom third.

We have to hit bottom to get back up.....see Houston, Jax and Cleveland.

It's tough as a fan when you want to win but the sooner we hit bottom and dump Allen the better off we will be.

Loomis has proven he just will not do that.

With Payton and Brees gone, two years ago was the time to do that. Strip things down, get back to cap reality, get younger and rebuild.

They will not do it.

Maybe Loomis will make DA lay in the bed that he wanted, will Regroup when we are able to get rid of both DA and DC together.

Spot on. Not sure who the OC will be but everything else sounds perfect. Mediocre keeps you competitive in this division. I hope the fans continue not to go to the games.

Sounds about right, and honestly this a a worst case scenario.

It’s why I give credit to the Bills FO for letting McDermott get rid of their OC during the season. He has no one left to scapegoat if they falter.

I could be wrong on Curry getting promoted I will admit that. It may be so bad they know they cannot promote from within.

But...I think that's what Loomis will WANT to do.

I agree… except we won’t win 8 games with DA next season. We can’t pull away in this crummy division now, and I find it hard to believe the division won’t be better next season (even if it’s only by a little)

I really don't see a win the next four games. The Giants. Rams out west and we have already lost to both the birds and pirates.

edit wrong stat

I have full faith that the Saints will figure out a way to give us the most mediocre pick possible.

If we're stuck with Carr until the end of next season at the earliest then I'm fine with DA being a lame duck coach next year

Agree this is what will happen, although I think it’ll take a 3-1 finish to win the division/make the playoffs. 8 wins is actually worst case scenario in that it’s the most number of wins we can have and still miss the playoffs.

Pretty likely that’s what will happen

We win all but Rams games and take the Cowboys to overtime in the Superdome in Wild Card round.

I'll let the football gods take it from there.

If they do somehow win the division that means they get a first place schedule which will expose this team even more.
You thought it was bad this season, just wait till the schedule gets tougher.
First round probably needs to get a pass rusher, looks like age is finally taking over Cam Jordan unless he's been playing through injury. I don't know that WR is a pressing issue since you have Olave and Shaheed plus if Perry can make additional strides. You definitely need to upgrade oline and maybe you can find some free agents.
Thomas needs to go.
I can see Ramczyk retiring.
They definitely need to see if they can get anything for Lattimore and get out of that contract, a contender may be willing to give us some decent draft compensation.

This is spot on. I'm still thinking they go 7-10 and loss the last 3 games, but I'm sure it will be 8-9 then Sneaky Pete will be the scapegoat.

I don't think they'll promote Curry though. I'll think they'll go with a lame offensive retread. They'll kick the can some more down the road. Dumpster fire

I don’t think there is a long enough history post Payton/Brees to predict what Loomis will do with absolute certainty.

I’m not saying your contention in the OP is wrong. It very well may play out that way. I’m just not resigned quite yet that Loomis is without the ability to made the necessary changes. However, if he doesn’t do it after this season, then any latitude will be lost.
