Jeremy Fowler: potential wild card destination for Cam...........New Orleans?

Says it's unlikely, but essentially he heard from a guy in the league who said Payton really loved Lamar in that draft, loves that style of QB who he can do all kinds of things with, experiment, and we've seen a bit of that with Taysom.
Also, Carolina would never trade him to nola, so it would have to be an outright release and we'd have to make it work.
Will never happen, Tuesday morning NFL talk, but how would the board feel if Cam did make it here, AND was healthy? Could Payton work some magic with him? Could you get over his wardrobe.

I don’t like Cam but he and Taysom in the backfield would be hard to stop.
If he is willing to take $10 mil a year I can get over my hate.

frick no. Taysom is a better passer

I read somewhere where Jalen Hurts running style was compared to a young Cam Newton.

Saw a projection that Tua could possibly drop down to us, and from what I've read, he's expected to make a full recovery.

No thanks to all names mentioned except Lamar. With Tua, there's lots of talk that he's a one read QB. Playing with 3 WR that will go in the 1st round and a monster O-Line, he's going to get exposed in the NFL.

Jesus Christ no. Resign Teddy B if nothing else.

Hopefully Brees comes back & we don't have to entertain this in the off-season.
Personally, I don't think Newton would be a good fit here. He's like Teddy 2 Gloves...just much dumber, more emotional, less accurate, but a stronger arm (affected by his injury). They both had career altering injures, but Bridgewater can mask his a lot better.
I wouldn't want Newton unless he came here at a discount.

One of his biggest strengths is fooling the coverage to think he's going one way and he'll go another. So if you're implying he stares down his target, I don't believe that's true.
I know Lester isn't big on Tua, but..........it's Lester.

I think it’s very likely we come out of this year’s draft with Jalen Hurts

No that's part of why he's effective in college. He's always going to that one target, but makes it appear as if he's not. I'm sure he'll continue to grow, I just don't think he's going to be all that great in the NFL.

Unable to care less what Lester thinks

If Payton really loved Lamar Jackson in the draft, Lamar Jackson would be playing for the Saints right now. We not only traded up to a spot to potentially get him, but he even dropped to our original spot.
Now I do think that Payton did love Mahomes and still question if drafting Watson over Lattimore would have been the better long term move.

I love Burrow, but Tua's deep ball accuracy is what's going to really care him on the next level. I'm not talking about completion percentage because in college open is REALLY open and Chase and Jefferson have made a lot of crazy plays to reel a lot of those in. But Tua's deep balls are usually spot on and in stride.
That's the big part of Burrow's game he's going to have to work on because he'll not get away with it as much in the pros.

I would hate it. It would be like Brett Favre going to Minnesota. Payton could probably get more out of him than anybody has so far but I don't think his accuracy issues are fixable. Also, he's got a lot of wear on those tires and seems to be hurt more than he was early in his career.

I would burn my Saints jerseys and actively root against New Orleans if Cam played. I hate him that much. F$&k that POS. I don’t want that cancer anywhere near this team. I’d rather have no QB than that whiny, sorry sack of crap.

When Cam was playing earlier this season his arm looked awful. The only complete passes he could make were 10 yard slants to DJ Moore and screens to CMC.
