Crazy good value to draft a running back this year in the later rounds.

It’s a very deep running back draft. I think you see veterans like D. Henry and Zeke Elliot being let go because of it.

I guess that’s my thinking of what the front office might do. It’s likely somebody falls out of the draft since there are so many RBs this year. And the Saints typically go RB early or sign an UDFA.

I wouldn’t mind taking one and before signing Williams, it was a necessity. I just don’t know if the front office takes one with some other needs needing more immediate attention.

Gibbs would be a great Kamara type guy but will go in the high 2nd and we have other needs. As far as value I would say if Charbonnet or Achane is there in the 3rd I would pull the trigger or if they look in the 4th or 5th I’d go Tyjae Spears, Eric Gray Chase Brown, Tank Bigsby or Roschon Johnson. This draft is really deep at RB so there’s no reason to waste anything but a day 3 pick on one because you can still find a really good player with the ability to one day be the starter.

I think we need to address other concerns while the big names are maybe still on the table.

Spears from Tulane could be a Kamara-like steal in this draft if we can grab him in the 3rd though. I really think he’s gonna be a Pro Bowl-level talent

Tank Bigby is more like Kamara than Gibbs

Not a chance. Bigsby is a between the tackles low to the ground runner that has good agility to get outside but Gibbs is much more of a playmaker in space like Kamara. I think Tank and Kamara would start very soon if we took him, nothing against Jamal Williams who is a great compliment to AK but he’s really just a 2 year stopgap.

Gibbs is more like CJ SPiller. He is 199lbs. He is only giving maybe a small part of what Kamara can give. Who is 215, can run between tackles, pass protect, and catch passes.

Bigsby is closer in size to Kamara, and gives you some of the same between tackle running, open field cutting, and pass catching.

On a field full of five star talent, Gibbs was consistently the best football player on the field. Give me him.

Kamara is definitely a guy that looks smaller on TV. I remember the first time I saw him at a training camp practice.

was surprised at his build. And that was just as a rookie.

Gibbs style looks more like Kamara to me than any rb in this draft. Very smooth runner but doesnt have the tackle breaking ability of Kamara.

East Carolina RB Keaton Mitchell

Because of pure speed.

Auburn RB Tank Bigsby

Because he ran behind crappy Olines and still shined.
Marks a lot of boxs with his game.

Rounds 4 and 5 will still be good for talented Rb's .

Deuce Vaughn - Kansas State

Dude is 5' 5" 170 lbs. That's shorter than Darren Sproles. Would immediately be the smallest RB in the NFL. Someone else can gamble on an outlier like this.

He’s too small to be compared to Kamara. And much faster. The idea that the Saints need to replicate the old offenses need to die. There isn’t a Brees or Payton there anymore. Even after 2 seasons that idea has been killed. So why are we going to keep pushing it

They don’t need the next kamara. Just get good players.

Already has two ACL tears and not a good pass catcher. Maybe a Day 3 pick.

That’s another deep position. Musgrave also shows a lot of potential, but I think my favorite value is La Porta. Would love him I’m the 3rd/4th if he’s still there (maybe a long shot). That he actually put up functional numbers in an all time embarrassing Iowa offense is impressive

Loaded RB class.

Bijan Robinson
Spears
Gibbs
Achane

With the pickup up Williams I’m guessing it’ll be later pick - so hopefully Vaughn out of k state in the late rounds

I don’t care if he’s smaller. His running style is very similar to Kamara. He won’t break tackles like him, but he will make defenders miss with elite cutting ability.

And we shouldn’t draft him in the 2nd even if there. We have more pressing needs in the first two rounds. But I’m definitely taking a rb in the 4th or 5th this draft. Plenty of really good options will still be on the board. I wouldnt mind if we took one in the 4th and 5th just to hedge.

The Syracuse and Pitt rb no one has mentioned are also good. Teams will keep passing b/c they have so many this year.
