Good QB on a rookie deal is the secret sauce for winning NFL games. If they think Shough is it then they need to try to win starting next year.

We have the best division record in the NFC south.

We are a couple of missed Grupe kicks from being in right now.

Winning a playoff game though? 1 or 2 yrs.

If we hit on some picks again and give Shough a few more weapons we will hopefully flirt with .500 next year unless the defense regresses. That may be enough if the South stays down to knock on the door.

Also have to figure that Shough will have a bit of a dip as the league gets film on him and he will hopefully continue to grow past that into a high level starter consistently.

If I had to put money I’d say 27 is the year you hope to be competitive for a spot.

In terms of winning playoff games that all depends on matchups. It’ll be a few years before we’re matchup proof level competitive.

In this division? It's possible next year.

One would be great. Two is more realistic. They need 2 guards, maybe a center and a tackle, 2 playmaking receivers, another running back, a linebacker to replace Demario, etc.

Win 7-9 next year and then in offseason 2027 put $ towards a big 2027. With our division 8-9 wins could be all we need to make the playoffs but I think we’re at least one more season away from threatening a contender.

This is what I'm thinking. May take 2 years to get more players to make the next big move.

Two is much more reasonable of expectations.

If we get in next year, I imagine it will be because of how bad the NFC South is

We will have the cheapest QB room in the league next year, and potentially the best qb in the division.

Our division largely sucks.

We should be competing for the division and playoffs next year.

Assuming Shough is the real deal.

Johnson doesn't drop the pass in the endzone and Saints win in OT against Arizona and Olave doesn't drop that TD pass against Miami we would be in the thick of it right now for the NFC South. The NFL has shown you can turnover a roster quick with a good draft, a decent QB, and a good coach. It is not out of bounds to say this team will be in the hunt next year.

For the playoffs or a title?

In addition to your list, the NFL has shown a shitty division is crucial for a mid-team to make the playoffs.

I think we will have a much better idea of our title contention options after next year. That's what I'm more concerned about, TBH.

We always have a chance for the playoffs in the South. Carolina a few weeks ago had a chance in the South. The Bucs are shite and they are leaders of the South

I’d expect Mickey to start pressing the gas bc of this

Everyone thinks a rebuild means adding studs and starters. But one of our biggest downfalls was lack of depth. A lot of the young guys who are seeing the field now, at worst, are solid depth pieces.

I reckon Moore’s first order of business is to build out the ground game. Revamp the OL, whether that’s adding guards or moving tackles. New RB, maybe a TE who can block and catch.

The only real roster decisions we have to make at the end of the season are we keep Davis and do we resign Taylor. That's it. Everyone else that is a FA is a replacement level player. We still will have a bunch of dead money, but its not like our roster is about to completely turn over or we are about to have to break the bank to keep a group together.

If they have another good offseason like they did this past year, they could make it next year given how shite the division is

Loomis stringing together two good offseasons is a lot to ask though

Taylor depends on his number and the draft. If the draft falls so that we go corner in the first or second then I think you let him walk and get the comp pick in 2027 (unless his number is really reasonable).

Davis I think you bring back as long as he wants to keep playing for us.

On how long the rebuild takes, obviously a lot depends on the next couple of drafts and how we utilize our cap space. Definitely need to upgrade the interior of the o-line, beef up the d-line (specifically another above average edge player in addition to Young), and need to upgrade our skill position room (could use upgrades at TE/RB/WR).

That being said maybe the two biggest questions are how much Shough and Moore can improve with a full offseason to digest and come back with a full year experience. If they both learn from this year and make big second year leaps as coach/QB then we can be a good team next yeae
