Seahawks would have taken him. They traded away their best or 2nd best DE. The DL needed to get better overall, it was a need.

They traded back because they needed more picks, but look at the board. All the big defensive talents were just taken. Davenport. Edmunds. James. Those guys were all considered top 10

Ugh it’s not that people wanted another player ie our board we don’t like giving up extra picks including a first round for what most sources say is a project guy, a guy that zoomed up board at the Se Bowl work outs

If Davenport becomes a great player, it's easily worth the cost. Legit Edge cost in this league is ridiculous. He just needs to be successful and the trade would be very beneficial to our organization.

Completely agree. If he performs like a Mid first round pick as an edge rushing DE/OLB for our defense with the secondary we have and the need at that spot, it is totally worth a late first next year.

If he doesn’t perform, it was a mistake. That isn’t hard to understand.

People want a legit pass rush but don’t want to pay for it.

Draft wise or cap wise. That’s not hard to understand either and it has shown itself completely

Two first round picks = His floor has to be 10+ sack guy with multiple pro bowls.

You traded the number 27 pick in this draft going after a player you think will win you a Super Bowl. The saints are now good enough, barring crazy injuries, to go deep in the playoffs or win a Super Bowl. Therefore you traded a # 27 pick and hopefully a 28th or high pick for a guy we needed. That’s basically like traded 2 high 2nd round picks. Also look at needs for next year, are they guys you can grab in rounds 2 and 3? If so, what did you really lose?

He didn’t even play that great at the senior bowl. We have no idea how he plays against real talent. We threw away a first round pick on measurable and hope, basically.

Harold Landry would have been there @ 27, but he's more a 3-4 guy, so I'm not sure if he was even on the board.

Not going to downvote you but you're a high bump value now.

it was fun bumping threads last season because there were legitimate melts for everyone of our picks

Lattimore had bad hamstrings
Ramczyk only played two seasons of football and we needed a DE
Who in the hell is Marcus Williams we already have a safety

Did we really just spend a second next year on a luxury pick in Alvin Kamara. We just signed Peterson

It's the draft. Every player has a lot of ifs. That's always a cop out. People act like those two picks we traded away were somehow more sure than the player we picked. It's actually the opposite.

I hate this thought. If he creates pressures causes Cam to get more sacks, Lattimore to get more ints, and stops the run efficiently then you are saying he wasn't worth it?

GTFO of here with your stat whoring

What's funny is that we still had the same need which we addressed by picking a DE, and there's still a melt.

I've been here long enough now that I know there's going to be a melt no matter what happens. I've even been guilty myself once or twice. Been wrong once or twice too.

as have I. My favorite is the ones who hold on to their hate forever. Andrus Peat has answered every question and is playing at a pro bowl level now, but some still call him project Peat

Really he just needs to end up being a 5-8 year starter for him not to be a bust. That's the actual realistic standard for evaluating first round picks. Anything else is just bonus. Anything less is failure. Of course you have to hit into the bonus a few times to compete for championships, but if you at least consistently pick quality starters in the first few rounds then it's success.

It doesn't fit their narrative so they are just going to trash talk you and downvote. Draft time this place turns into the Poli board

why just throw this comment out there when you have no idea and obviously watched zero minutes of the senior bowl or read about it.
