Anyone know why the Saints thought he would not be there at pick 27?

Packers, Cowboys, or Seahawks would have drafted him

Can you find any "reputable" mocks that have Davenport going at 27ish in the last two weeks?

He was a top 20 lock.

The second best player at arguably the second most valued position in the NFL was not going to be there.

I personally hate the move. Give up a 1 for a guy with a lot of "ifs" attached? Completely stupid, imo. Downvote away, but I won't blindly support every move this front office makes.

he 100% would not have been there.

almost all mocks had him going in the teens.

he had a mid first round grade across the board.

How about waiting for him to play a season of NFL football before melting like a little bitch? Sorry the Saints didn't follow your draft board.

If Davenport becomes a great player, it's easily worth the cost. Legit Edge cost in this league is ridiculous. He just needs to be successful and the trade would be very beneficial to our organization.

Oh yeah, sorry that I'm the only one speculating about this on the whole board. That's all any of it is right now, speculation. Just sharing my opinion, far from melting.

Not going to downvote you but you're a high bump value now.

Reactionary comments (positive or negative) less than 24 hours after a draft pick are stupid. No one knows what we got until pads come on and real hitting starts.

But the Saints drafted a very good, young player at a position of need with incredible upside.

Davenport doesn’t have anymore “ifs” than anyone else. “If he develops” applies to just about everyons

In that case there shouldn't be a single comment about the pick.

While I'm not the biggest fan of using an extra one to trade up, there's a very small chance he lasted until 27.

Did the Saints believe someone else was going to draft him in the next 5 rounds? They could have waited a little and coughed up less. This is a high risk decision in my opinion. If he doesn't pain out, it will hurt for a long time.
