I agree. Considering how we came back and the fact we would’ve been favored over Philadelphia would have given us a very high chance to go to the Super Bowl.

I agree. This was the worst loss in Saints history in my book. Admitting it instead of being in denial makes me feel better.

Definitely two of the most painful losses I've witnessed in Saints history were 2012 @49ers divisional game and 2018 @Vikings divisional game.

If we win those you're favored to go to the SB in both seasons. At the moment this one hurts more but after I forget the pain of last night I think 49ers game is still worse because we wouldve had the crappy Giants at home in championship game and if they won the SB that year, we absolutely couldve.

The 49ers divisional loss was way more of a depleting loss considering the factors if we win: Home nfccg against the fricking giants.

But my god, can you lose a worse way than a fricking walk off bomb that could’ve easily been prevented? frick.

I think getting blown out is worse and listen, I played the game, so you can take it from me.

I played for Joe Brown Park, NORD and 8th Grade football for Cabrini.

Agree

That 2011 Saints team was about as unbeatable at home as you could probably get. Absolutely demolished every team that year and there is little doubt we make it to the SB.

This year, I still give us the edge at Philly, but I'm not nearly as confident.

This one just hurts more because of the way we lost.

Philly is good man. They are on par with Vikings. Excellent defense with a mediocre qb. They beat matty ice. Next week wouldn't have been a walk in the park

The 49ers game was the worst IMO. This was a pretty close second though.

yup. 9-0 at home! destroyed teams like giants, falcons, panthers, lions, etc there.

This is not worse than 2012. The only reason anyone is saying otherwise is because of recency bias. 2011 was the best Saints team ever and should have won a Super Bowl. Losing that game was absolutely debilitating.

2017 was a very good team, but certainly overachieved. They could have made a run at the Super Bowl but assuming a win in Philly is presumptuous and we're not beating the Pats in the Super Bowl with how thin we are.

Stealing the victory from the Vikings yesterday would not guarantee us a road win at Philly next week. Philly would have been as tough if not tougher to beat than the Vikings. We played inside in a dome yesterday. We would have had to make another road trip to go play the #1 seeded Eagles outside in the elements.
The Saints are a beat up team on both sides of the ball the match up did not favor the Saints beating the Eagles in Philly.

The Saints very much overachieved this year. We went into the playoffs playing with house money and stole a game on the road from the #2 seeded Vikings in their stadium. All while playing what was probably the worst first half of football that the Saints played all year.

The Saints were projected to go 7-9 or 8-8 this season. They played well above their heads this season until the injury bug caught up with them.

49ers was worse. Yeah we would've been favored next week but that '11 team just brutalized people.

Projections are worthless, because no one knows how rookies will pan out. Our rookies were very fricking good. Those projections mean nothing looking back.
