What happens if we are not cap compliant? Lose draft picks? Team gets fined? GM gets fired? What are we looking at here?

This excellent spreadsheet sadly displays the reckless drunk sailor spending and the dearth of talent on this roster.

Fines.
Loss of picks, even the entire draft.
Loss of cap space.

You don't want to play that game when the penalty can be something you can't predict.

I said this all year, you are looking at a throwaway 2025 cap year, it will bleed into 2026, and if you don't do stupid signings 2027 will be a relatively fresh set of money.

Doubt it happens because Mickey has triggers worked into the contracts & it’s to easy to get under even if it’s a last resort Carr restructure

But, the answer is to look at the penalties the Saints & Raiders faced that year the league was without the CBA. Both teams were fined, Raiders lost a pick, because they used the year to dump so salaries. I’d imagine you’d face that as a bottom line, plus the league would step in and adjust the contracts as needed to get cap compliant

Post June cuts don’t help you get cap compliant but it does help you sign FAs post June.

If we designed Carr as a post June cap cup prior to June 1 he can seek a new team per June 1st just can sign till after like Winston.

June 1st the saints are $1 under the cap. June 2nd they are $35 mill under the cap.

Teams can designate 2 players as post June cuts prior to June in this manner. Last season the Saints designate Winston and Thomas.

Post junes are very useful but more so for teams that are not struggling to get under the cap.

This is the truth. Problem is they almost have to restructure Carr and get his 30 mil$ of relief.

It is crazy what they would actually have to do if they didn't restructure Carr. It would almost take every player on the roster with anything over a 2m contract.

I'm never seen something like that.

Moore really screwed up taking this job. With the restructuring Loomis has to do, the Saints will be playing with a 45 man roster with 8 overpaid dead weighters being paid at the top of their position playing 10 snaps a game.

Yea Loomis has fricked up some shite. I don’t know why they keep extending honey badger for so much. They had a chance to go after him when he was kinda cheap one year but signed Kurt Coleman for the same amount of money.

The big one - to me - the problem one - is Carr. If you decide not to restructure Carr (or if you cut him - basically no difference until June) you basically have to restructure every other unfriendly deal on the roster to get compliant, and even then you have ZERO breathing room. Which is why, unfortunately, I think they are going to restructure Carr, and Mickey was bullshitting us in his presser about "all options being on the table" - unless they have some magic bullets in the chamber.

I think the best scenario is one which you redo Carr's deal, give him a 10M bonus with the promise to designate him a June 1 cut, drop his salary down to almost nothing this year and get enough room to get legal without redoing EVERY contract.

We haven't made the playoffs with Carr, also.

Meanwhile, Gayle trotted Cam out as her special guest while speaking at the Ochsner Leadership Conference last week.

Our benevolent owner picks her favorites and makes sure they get taken care of, even if it means saddling us with a dead weight contract that will negatively impact the team for years

Does not understand basic math nor could she read this spreadsheet.

Any owner who lets a situation get this dire and keeps those who made the mess in charge is simply incompetent. She may question their decisions but also believes their BS explanations.

At some point she should loom at her franchises records and realize she is the problem.

She owes it to us to sell before it’s too late.

When a mid tier QB, a geriatric DE and a gadget player are your top three cap numbers, your team fricking sucks.

The cam contract looks bad now but when he signed it most people thought it was a good deal, including myself.

He was still producing. Problem is cam just dropped off a cliff.
