Although it's hard to label a fourth rounder a bust, I really thought that Danny Wuerffel was going to be a good NFL quarterback. In college, he ripped LSU apart. He was one of the more accurate college quarterbacks I'd ever seen. And, he seemed like a really smart QB.

Some have said that he had small hands and the difference in size between the college football and the NFL ball was his downfall.

Courtney Watson. He was drafted in the 2nd round, in the 2004 draft, and I thought he was our answer at MLB for yrs to come.

He was the #2 overall pick

He wasn't incredibly productive though. This is something people either ignored when he was here or have forgotten since he has left, because they can't get past the Reggie hype and their love for the player to see the truth. Here's the truth:

AYPC = 3.9 for his entire career here, but only 3.6, 3.7, 3.8 his first two. His final two years saw his carries cut in half each year (70 carries in '09 and 30 in '10). '10 was an injury year, but he was finally starting to find his game this year.


Still, 3.9 ypc is not good, and it's terrible for the #2 overall pick who was supposed to take the league by storm (to borrow a cliche).


Receiving numbers dropped every year he was here, with his first logging 88 receptions and his final 34.

He had 29 TDs in 5 years here (17 rushing, 12 receiving). That's 6/year. That's 2 less than Kamara who has been here only 2 years


Reggie never surpassed 600 yards rushing (586 his highest in year 2), and outside of his 742 receiving in his rookie year he never even touched 500 again.



So please, tell me again how he was not a bust? Show me the numbers that support anything about him being more than a solid player. Was he bad? Not really. He did have bad vision and missed many holes, but he also corrected this over the years. Other than that he was a solid to decent player who would break off a great play every once in a while.

Please point to me where I ever stated that he is a bust due to not being in canton. I'll wait

One, I didnt call him a bust. I was defending his tenure with the Saints as he played an important role that the stats do not reflect. Overall he was part of some of the top offenses in the league.

Two, why are you talking about his whole career? He had four seasons of 1000+ yards from scrimmage, and three of them were with other teams, including his two best seasons which came with the Lions and Dolphins. His career was fine, but his time here with regards to his draft position can certainly be questioned.

I mean I thought it was obvious it was a joke at the posters claiming he was a bust. Especially since my post history on davenport has been positive and I do think he’ll be a monster next year.
