Davenport is going to crush it this year. And he will be healthy which I’m sure had some impact last year. Excited about his development.

Stanley Jean-Baptiste, just because of his measurables.
I'm pretty sure anyone outside of the Saints org thought this was a bust the minute the pick was announced.

This thread had promise but got derailed by idiots who don't know what a bust is.
Reggi Bush, Sedrick Ellis, Robert Meachem, etc. were not busts. They may not have ultimately lived up to their original draft positions, but they were all important contributors to a championship team and had good careers. Not busts.
Busts are guys who flame out and never even get a second contract.
Stephone Anthony was a bust. Kikaha would be my vote for a recent one because I also thought he'd be really good. Injuries played a role but that can't be an excuse considering his injury history coming out.
Also hard to label someone in the third round or later a bust but I really had high hopes for Davis Tull.

Nobody could live up to the hype around Bush but it was earned he was an absolute terror at USC. He was not ever close to being a bust Sean Payton don't use rbs like you would have needed to to Garner hype worthy stats with him, he was nothing but class the whole time he was here and after he left.
My biggest bust pick is with out a doubt Jonathan Sullivan

Not living up to the expectations for your draft position is the literal definition of a bust.
You can't quantity Reggie being worth the second overall pick just because he made some vital contributions in my opinion because who's to say Haloti Ngata or someone else from that class doesnt make more contributions if we take them? Reggie had his good plays but also had his share of shortcomings and missed alot of games to injury.
However, that year's first round was pretty underwhelming and the Saints wanted Bush as much for the publicity as his play on the field. It was vital to build a buzz around this team with all the uncertainty.
Hindsight is 20/20, could a better player have been selected there? Sure. But compared to alot of the selections that year, we didnt do too bad.

if they didn't have to be drafted here tough to find a bigger bust than the Jairus Byrd signing. I thought we were getting a game changing ball hawk....and now he's not even in the league anymore

Terri Wright.
Pensacola summer of 1975.
I thought wow at first then she took off her shirt.

And I was right.

Shawn Knight- Saints first rounder back in 87. The guy was a giant and I thought he’d wreck the middle of the line. He was gone in a year

Ah the old Eddie George argument. Eddie George was overrated by Buddy D and Saints fans on draft day and still is today. He averaged 3.6 yards per carry on teams that generally were better than the Saints at the time. That speaks for itself if George could have had any real impact here.
