Watching the replay of the Broncos / Chiefs game tonight, I see this run across the screen - as reported by Adam Schefter:

Drew Brees considered coming out of retirement to play for the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship game last year when Bo Nix went down. Apparently the idea was thwarted because Brees experienced discomfort in his wrist during a workout and decided not to return.

Curious how the Black and Gold faithful of The Who Dat Nation would have taken to that news, had he actually suited up and played.

They likely would've won that game with Brees even if his wrist hurt. Stidham was absolutely arse and the Broncos barely lost.

This stupid frickin story changes every time he tells it. Last year it was "I went out back with my son to see if I still got it, and my shoulder just wasn't there anymore"

Sounds like a case for tampering, but we know it'll only result in New Orleans losing two draft picks and a two million dollar fine.

Drew's arm was absolute shite his last 3 years. Had he played, he'd have thrown his automatic 2 playoff picks with a sack/fumble.

Take a knee, Drew.

He would’ve been pretty ineffective in those blizzard conditions

That’s why we should’ve gone after Brady and won two more Super Bowls but Brees ego couldn’t retire even though he didn’t have it anymore.

I would have been fine with it.

It would have been a disaster for him though.

I have a hard time believing this was a real possibility and nothing more than the media exaggerating a story for clicks.
First of all, they said Carmichael and Lombardi were behind it and Payton was not aware. Would Sean have even allowed it?
Second, wouldn’t that have reset Drew’s HOF clock back another 5 years? The game was on 1/25/26 and he got the HOF call on 2/8. He had to have an idea that he’d be a first ballot selection.

He literally moved to throwing left-handed because his shoulder is fricked up. He talked about it at one of his FNA events. He said he can throw a tight spiral about 30 yards with the left. Ain't no way Payton would take him back with that kind of range

He was 2nd in MVP voting behind Mahomes in his 3rd to last season with 32 TDs and only 5 INTs (played 15 games and sat final week) while leading saints to a #1 seed where we ended up getting screwed by rams. He also finished 2nd team all pro this year.

His 2nd to last year he had 27 TDS and 4 INTs in only 11 games played (got injured) and was selected to pro bowl when it still meant something…

There wasn’t a big drop off until his final year… in other words you’re wrong!

I don't have a link and I'm not gonna look it up, but allegedly Payton says he never was even brought into the loop or asked about it. If anything it was some fricking intern who said "OMG why don't we ask Drew brees to come back and play" and got shot down, but now they tried to make a headline grabbing piece for mnf

The story doesnt make sense. Hes literally said he he hasnt been able to throw right handed for several years. Uses his left to play catch with the kids

Of course he considered it. A chance to win a Super Bowl and only having to play 2 games. Probably every decent QB under 45 was out in their backyard tossing a ball around and seeing how they felt.

He would have had to be traded or released before the postseason it’s impossible
