Hey guys it's all good. We hired Willie to fix allllllllllll of this. He's head coach/head shrink.

Let's just pretend this article never happened and go look at Zion drilling his first 4 3s of his career again.

Lots of overreactions here.

First of all, I don't really care how close of a "relationship" Zion has with Griffin. Seriously, y'all are acting as though this is some daytime soap opera. Zion doesn't have to be impressed with Griffin's piano abilities. Zion doesn't even need to like Griff.

Let's get real -- how many other stories are there about how close other stars are with their GMs? Like, who cares? Zion isn't going to make his decision about whether or not to stay in New Orleans based on his personal relationship with Griff. He's going to make that decision based on whether or not he thinks that he can win a title here.

And that's why "just win" is really the only answer. We already knew that Zion was unhappy with the franchise, and we've seen it confirmed before that Zion doesn't hate Griff or anyone else in the front office, but that he just wants to win. If the team doesn't win a lot more games this season, then Zion is going to want out.

It is disappointing that Zion is still immature in some ways and isn't working out and watching his diet at the level a true professional should. As SVG put it, Zion hasn't been in "point guard" shape.

It's also disappointing that he isn't showing up to the workouts, but we don't know why that is. Is he out partying? Lazy? Angry at the organization? Too busy with sponsor stuff?

whatiknowsofar, I do think that the Green hire is critical. If Green can't get Zion to work harder on defense and get in better shape, then our title chances with Zion will disappear, even if Zion stays. Green's reputation for connecting with players is going to be tested.

He didn’t pick Gentry. Think Gayle forced that on him and he went along with it for the first year. He definitely totally whiffed on the Ron Jeremy hire, and has had a negative loss on majority of the trades he’s made which you can’t do in a small market.

And if we don’t make the playoffs this year, it’s time for him to go

If Willie gets Zion and BI to play def half as hard as the summer league team, then we're good.

I thought Griff was a basketball Guru but now I’m thinking we might need a new GM

There's really no point in following the NBA anymore unless you're a fan of a big market team.

We've had Chris Paul, Anthony Davis and Zion since 2006 and we've made the playoffs 5 times in that span, only won two of those series.

That's beyond the usual issues that come with a small market franchise, that is just pure incompetency. It also looks so fricking bad that players we've traded away in the last two years ended up being key pieces on championship teams in the year we traded them.

I get part of being a fan is sticking through the good times, the bad times, always hoping for the best and all that bullshite. But what about this franchise gives you any hope going forward?

And it's not like it's as a simple as changes at the top, it's fricking systemic. Since 2006, we've gone through five different head coaches, three different general managers and two different ownerships... and regardless of who is in charge, every perceived step forward, we take like five steps backward.

It’s starts at the top.

You rarely find good teams with poor ownership.

And for all they have done for football, the Benson’s have so far not shown themselves to be all that much better than Shinn when it comes to managing an NBA franchise. They’ll spend more to a point, but they kept Demps far too long and fired the wrong person in the Monty/Demps power struggle, hired the wrong replacement and are now letting him sabotage their second generational talent they were gifted. Things are trending near the sewer in the Zion era and I’m not sure I’m clear Gayle has an idea of a way out?

Honestly I’m not sure what this franchise should do if the Zion stuff is real and seemingly near irrecoverable? Or Zion really is this immature? It’s probably still sacrilege, but if true, and this season doesn’t change his attitude completely, I’d honestly say trade him. Trade him for the biggest haul in history and hopefully third times the charm for the Benson’s.

I hope it doesn’t come to that, but if this season is either a catastrophe or worse, we make the play in and Zion is still acting like a child, it’s time to recognize reality and move on. Clean house, hope to god Gayle has learned enough lessons and they do it correctly for once

Jesus just start him and play him 30mpg regardless of conditioning or “injuries”. Whatever happens happens. We’re tired of taking it slow.

I fricking hate Griff and wish they would have canned him with Ron Jeremey, but Zion can eat a dick in his part of all this. He is a generational talent who cares so little about his team. Like others have said, he is still chasing the AAU experience, which is just fricking weird. When he shows up fat as frick, I will be on the trade him bandwagon. No use playing him till he gets even fatter and fricks up his knee.
