Kessler outside the paint shows a viable defensive strategy for teams with the right personnel. That said, he has the opportunity every play to get past his defender and pull up for an 12-15 footer ahead of the shot blocker.

Look I agree a mid range is nice but Zion has 31

it’s coming. his wide open 3 potential is coming also. he can hit 38% on 3’s with the way they guard him.

We just need BI back and that will be covered. It would also keep CJ from playing so much iso

Zion needs to have the desire to go at Kessler and get him his 6th foul. Zion was passive -- he can't be afraid of Kessler.

I think Zion was gassed tonight tbh. And that defensive coverage was tough with 2 bigs in front of him and Kessler just hanging out on the left block as a 3rd defender.

We scored enough in this game, we just needed to rebound on defense and maybe have CJ be a retard only 8 times tonight instead of 9 times.

Zion Williamson's shot chart from his career-high 43-point performance. He attempted one shot outside of the paint. Two outside of the restricted area.

The two most bang for you buck areas to shoot on the floor.

Zion is young & athletic, so this bullyball is fun to watch but not something he can do forever. He will have to develop a shot & midrange will open up these lanes he enjoys as a young player when he slows down.

In the meantime, get out of his way or find out

You're describing something that won't be an issue for another decade.

Zion is basically what everyone begged Russ Westbrook to be for his entire career, only taller and 280 lbs. He will slowly add some mid range to his game. The one thing i do not want is for Zion to become like so many other players and fall in love with a mid range jumper or pull up 3's at the expense his drives. He is unstoppable, A) refs are starting to actually give him some calls and B) he's learning how to actually draw more fouls which is a skill to be developed too. Late 20's to early 30's is when Zion needs to have a mid range and 3 point shot developed. He has 6-8 years before we're there. I want Zion's growth work to be more about boxing out for rebounds. I feel like thats the next step in his development. He's so big and strong that when he learns how to better place himself and box out he's going to naturally get 3-5 more rebounds a game. I think here is where we see the effects of him developing as a point guard more in his youth so that aspect of his game is wanting. Everything else about how he plays is at a damn near MVP level on a nightly basis.

Works as long as he is able to make it to the basket, which has worked so far because he is too fast for bigs and to big for fast players.

If he loses a step for some reason or we don’t have the weapons around him to give him space to work with? Then he would need to have that in his back pocket.

I’m not worried about a decade from now. I do think he needs to continue to evolve. What he does today will be hard to stop short term. Long term, teams will figure out how to defend. A midrange shot will open up more bully ball. The threat of both is next to impossible to defend

His midrange looked really good against Philly. He went to it several times out of the post with good success against Tucker. He clearly has it in his bag and can hit them at a good rate.

This adjustment was definitely something that was made after the success Milwaukee had in defending him. Philly tried to defend him in a similar way early on and we adjusted by getting him on the block posting up and CJ off of screens for the open look to counter it and forced Philly out of those defensive looks once CJ got hot.

The more defensive looks Zion gets, the better he's going to be going into the playoffs. His ability to counter the way defenses play him is amazing to watch game to game and even quarter by quarter. His ability to adjust is scary. The IQ is serious in the way he sees the game.
