I wonder if it is Jrue honestly.

I think with Jrue the Pels could get as much value this summer as now. So there's no rush to sell unless Jrue wants out. And maybe he does, with the Pels it's probably another 2-3 years to make the WCF at best. With a team like the Heat he could make the ECF this year while he's still in his prime.

If Zach is hinting he knows something and I had to guess who, I'd guess Favors. Favors is a Free Agent this summer and if the Pels don't want to give him a 3-4 year deal, he's probably as good as gone. Zion at the 5 has worked out best with what little we've seen of Zion in the NBA, Hayes is way ahead of schedule, and Griffin said Melli was one of the players harmed most by Zion being out, suggesting they still have some expectations for Zion/Melli together.

I honestly don’t think we do anything outside of trading Miller and filler for something.

Trading Jrue would be dumb. It could be done just as easy in the off-season. I’d rather see how he looks with Ingram/Zion and Ball too. I will admit he kinda feels like the odd man out, and I think we can get a really nice haul for him, but his elite defense tells me not to trade him.

Redick’s leadership is too important to trade him.

Favors is the only one that makes sense since he’s an expiring and Jaxson has looked great. If you can get an upgrade or asset, no sense in holding onto him I guess.

There will be better offers for Jrue during the summer. Terrible free agency class.

that’s fine but we better get a guy who’s just as good defensively. I get Hayes is ahead of schedule, at least compared to what we all thought he’d be this year, but it’s still a glaring issue for us for another season at least. I don’t see Hayes developing into a quality starter for another few years. I wonder if they’ll try and trade favors to the pacers for turner. Pacers could use Favors for their playoff run this year and not have to have turners contract in their books for the next 3 years.

I wonder if Taj Gibson could do a serviceable amount of what Favors is doing for the times that Zion/Hayes aren't good enough. I haven't watched him in a while but his stats suggest he's still got something left in the tank. He's playing 16 MPG and averaging 12/9 per 36 minutes.

Can also mean the vets like Reddick or
Favors. Would be doing both a solid by moving them.

Why is that?

I’m the one that brought that trade up, but I honestly don’t know how he looks this year. Haven’t watched a second of the Knicks.
I know he wouldn’t be worst than Miller.

I know it was just one game, but Melli is the big that will likely mesh with Zion the best. I also think the right game plan and ball movement can work with Hayes and Zion. I don’t know how well Zion can be maximized with a traditional 5 like Favors, but every team needs that traditional 5 for defensive purposes against certain teams.

We’d either have to get a third team involved or acquire another player from the knicks for that trade to work

because you’d be sending them to playoff bound teams.

If you don’t plan on meeting Favors contract expectations, then it makes sense to move him.

Redick on the other hand has not missed the playoffs since coming into the league. If he went to the FO with the request, I think we’d oblige. FWIW I wouldnt move Redick. His vet presence is as valuable as his shooting.

Why
salaries don’t work apparently for the Knicks for a Favors -Gibson straight up trade.

Well I’m talking Miller for Gibson.

Then you do Favors to someone else for some kind of asset.

I think this would be 2 trades. Send Favors to a contender for assests. Trade Miller and filler to get Gibson. I've been wanting Gibson since we played the knicks. I think he brings about 80-90% of what Favors brings. Toughness, defense, rebounding. I just think Favors brings better offense.

I don't see Jrue being moved. He did a PC with Zion last night for support. He's THE guy in the locker room.

If we do sell on anyone it would be Derrick IMO, and one team that may want him would be Indiana in a Favors/Turner swap (even though they are saying they don't want to trade Turner)

Favors would fit better for them because he wouldn't mind coming in behind Sabonis, who is their clear guy at the 5. Sabonis and Turner have looked awful together this season, and Turner wants to start. Also Griff has been after Turner for awhile now.

Favors and a top 10 protected 1st for Turner, I don't know if that would be a buying move or a selling move, but I think that would be the biggest move we would make.

I wonder if we’d really even need to give them a first in that deal. He has been pretty bad this year. Maybe a couple seconds. Maybe another young player like frank

Indy is 2.5 games out of the 2 seed without Oladipo playing all year so far. They’re doing fine as is so you’d have to make it worth their while get Turner.
